One of the most popular marathons anywhere in the world has a "running" start on its 2003 event, as registration for the 10th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon kicks off March 1, 2002. Both races, which follow a course through Walt Disney World theme parks and resort areas, are scheduled for Jan. 12, 2003.
The marathon and half marathon are the centerpiece of the 2003 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which also features the FamilyFun Magazine 5K and Kids Races on Jan. 11, 2003, and the two-day Disney's Health and Fitness Expo at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort on Jan. 10-11, 2003.
Registration is limited to the first 13,500 athletes for the marathon and the first 5,000 for the half marathon. The event set a registration record for the 2002 event, reaching capacity in June 2001 for the half marathon and July 2001 for the full marathon.
For the third year, participants in the marathon, half marathon and 5K may register online at www.disneyworldsports.com. In addition, participants may fill out the printable registration form on the Web site and submit it via regular mail, or request a race application by calling 407/939-7810. Registration fees are $90 for the marathon and $60 for the half marathon.
Special 10th Anniversary Walt Disney World Resort Marathon packages are also available beginning March 1 by calling 407/939-7810, or a travel agent.
