That's AWESOME! Look how much space there is now! Maybe they just haven't gotten to the fountains, but I do hope you're right. It looks like it's been filled in ALOT. Did you stand on the Trash Can by Dumbo? It looks like whatever they have in mind will be BIG. Hey, did they get rid of the Bench everyone used to stand on to look over the wall? Anyway, thanks for the AWESOME pic!

That's a great pic! If I had to guess I'd say the fountain is still there due to the plumbing and the way the concrete is still intact in the immediate area, they look really out of place now that the sub lagoon is gone, kind of tacky.Maybe they'll show up on Ebay.

YES!!!!
There saving the water fountains. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY

I knew they were going to save these. I think they are actually ""SPOILER""

THE SGE WATER EFFECTS.
They will squirt water into the mouths if the guests if they touch a special button or turn a secret on the side. Don't tell anyone about this because it is a secret. :hammer: :p

Hopefully the construction of this new area will be quicker than the demolition was. If that's the case, then we should have a new area in a couple months.

I'm not expecting anything huge to go here just yet. It will probably end up being a meet and greet, plus maybe a shop and an expansion for Ariel's Grotto (maybe that's they the drinking fountains are still there?).

WOW, I never realized how big of a piece of real estate they have to work with.

Being that everything is so "mum" as to what is happening with this area, I wonder IF anything big is going there and no ones knows since they want to keep it secret OR we would have known if anything major was going to happen, (since it seems impossible to keep anything a secret these days) and it will merely be a "Meet and Greet".

Although I think a well themed Meet and Greet will help flesh out Fantasyland and give it a more cohesive feel and look, which has been missing for many years.

Kind of a double edged sword. If they theme it well, why would they remove it so shorty afterwards after they spent $$$. But if they don't spend enough $$$ it will look like an eyesore until they put something there permanently.

I know its been said but i say they put in several (at least 2) dark rides to help thin out an extremely over crowded fantasyland. I think it will also act like a subtle transition to mickey's toon town.

Can anyone tell if the show building is still intact? It sure looks like they've kept the entrance wall up (you can see the big square entry area in the background). If the show building is still up, I wonder if they have plans to use it. It's quite large if you look at aerial photos. I kept reading about what sorry condition it's in, but maybe if they gutted it the actual structure is OK? Anybody know?

When I rode the Barnstormer (if you know where to look, you can see backstage), it looked like the building was still up...and that is a huge building too! Used to walk past it all of the time when I worked in ToonTown!

Disneypix.com has an aerial photo of Fantasyland from the back taken in December of 2003 (I think). You can see the 20K building is as big as IASW or HM. Plus, you can get an idea of how big the lagoon itself was by comparing it to the pathways and buildings around it (though you can't see it all due to the angle of the photo). I know the imagineers can do something great with all this space; I just hope the bean counters open up Mickey's wallet enough to actually do it.

Now the have enough room to build a replacement Mr.Toad. :D

Seriously though, I think it would be appropriate to put another dark ride in since that was what WAlt loved and what Disney has gotten away from. It seems to be the perfect amount of room for a very good sized dark ride as well. I'm sure it won't happen though.

What's funny is, we all try to think and pursuade Disney to do something we want, but the decision has been made for a long long time of what exactly will be done.
