I am just creating a buzz for all of the Disney universe. Disney has had a presence in Australia for quite a few years now. And with the introduction of the disney stores in the 90's it was proven. Unfortunately these stores didn't stay as the profitability wasn't enough for Disney to keep them running. Thus unfortunately they slowly disappeared.

However with the introduction of Star Wars, Marvel and Pirates to the the scene there is reason to think that Disney may have their sights on our shores once again for a park, yes I said it once again. Some of you may not know this however the Gold Coast if Australia was sign posted a few years ago for development however the government at the time for whatever reason said no.

So here's what I am putting together for you all to consider. 1 Disney has had offices in Melbourne and Sydney for years, rumour has it that the now have offices on the Gold Coast. 2 They have filmed a number of movies here over the past couple of years and are speculated to do a few more in the up coming years, I think it because the like us. 3 They are developing a shipping terminal on the Gold Coast and they would then be able to explore new locations for the Disney Cruise lines.

So in all what do you think is there enough evidence there to suggest a new location for a park, one that will rival the existing parks on the Gold Coast.

Let me know your thoughts and sorry Disney if I have by any means let the cat out of the bag it's just my imagination as an Engineer getting the better of me.

Yeah, I think it's going to be a good 10-15 years before another Disney property is built. Look how long it was between the last 4 - about 10 - 12 years.

However, I think the next location would more than likely be Australia. I don't see Europe or Asia ever getting another one and I don't think Africa or the Middle East will ever get one due to being hot spots for terrorism and anti-Western cultures being prevalent.

Latin America seems like it would be wanted, but not sure the economies down there would ever be stable enough for Disney to feel safe building one down there. Chile and Argentina seem the most probable (would have said Brazil, but their economy seems to be awful now).

So no, I don't see a new Disney park being built til at least 2025 or 2030, if at all. But yes if it does happen, Australia seems to be the most likely candidate.

I couldn't imagine them ever building a park in Australia; I doubt the revenue numbers are there to justify it. I can't imagine more than 10 million people travel to Australia a year, and I would bet the majority of those people would just as likely travel to an existing park to get their Disney fill. Sign me up if it happens, though. I'm having a hard time motivating to visit Shanghai just for Disney, but I'd happily jump on a plane to Australia to visit the park (and surf).

General consensus on this for years as far as I'm aware has been that population is too sparse in Australia to sustain a park, + potential of cannibalizing attendance from the Asian parks.

I'm nowhere near qualified enough in regards to global economic and demographic trends as well as the current and future financial state of TWDC to suggest a sensible location for a future park, but my uninformed gut prediction is that it would be in Latin America or somewhere in West Asia (like Dubai or India). Possibly even a second park in mainland China.

Thanks for your reply, I understand that the post was old. However with whats going on, on the Gold Coast with the projected next 5 years worth of film production being Marvel, and the large Chinese developer looking to build a theme park here. I am sure you can do your research as well and see where I am going with this. As I have said it is speculation at the moment. But it's an interesting thought. Don't you think....,

And I live near Atlanta where plenty of films are being made for Marvel as well. Doesn't mean there's a new park coming here. Ditto for London....

Thats cool, you picked up Captain Marvel only because we are hosting the Commonwealth Games here in April next year and the schedule couldn't accommodate it. I am just trying to raise some awareness on what could happen here and as the saying goes Haters gonna hate. either way have a brilliant day wm49rs....

Captain America: Civil War
Ant Man
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Spider Man: Homecoming
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War

To add to your facts, a LOT more than what you listed has been shot in the Hollywood of the South (aka Atlanta). And not just feature films. The Netflix series Ozark was filmed literally just minutes north of where I live (no where near Missouri...). And, I agree: a new Disney location will probably not be based upon how popular an area is for TV and motion picture filming.
I'll never say never (mustn't be too much of a "hater"), but correlation and causation....

Film production isn't any indication of an area being capable of having a theme park and having it be profitable. If that were the case, Hawaii would have one by now.

I couldn't imagine a new park anytime soon but I could see Disney working to expand DVC. That would be a much less risky plan for Australia and Disney can use the data they get from a DVC resort to decide if they want to add a park.

That means absolutely nothing. The film studio is a completely different business unit from the parks.
