1 week away & you guys have me thinking ...

that I may have made a mistake by booking my wife and I for 8 nights at Coronado Springs instead of Port Orleans FQ or RS.

This will be our last vacation together before we start trying to have children. We are scheduled to arrive on Saturday the 18th so I have 1 week to try and make a resort change.

I am not worried too much about the size of the resort but don't really want to be around a whole lot of "conventioners" if I can avoid it.

What should I do?

I have never stayed at Coronado, but I have family that has and they really like it. They said that the conventioneers didn't bother them at all and because it is often thought of as a "convention resort" there weren't a lot of small children. But my response to that is always "hey, you're at Disney. Kids are to be expected". If you truly are worried, I agree that you can always call and check on availability at PO, but I think you will enjoy yourself no matter which resort you end up at.

And best of luck on starting your family. Just think, the next time you go to Disney, it might be with your children!! :)

Thanks! That makes me more nervous than booking this trip!

I think I am probably going to just stay at CS and see how it is. My wife hasn't been to Disney World since she was 8 years old and she absolutely loves Mexican food. I am hoping the restaurants at CS are good.

Just be careful what you wished for. Last May (08) while on our anniversary trip my husband and I both made wishes to be expecting by the end of the year.

Two weeks later, I found out I was expecting.

Best of luck to the both of you....

Calland see if POFQ has an availability, because cancel all the time. POFQ is a much smaller resort. But from what I hear from others who have stayed there{I never did} COR Springs is supposed to be very nice, too, just much larger. When you call, see if there areany rooms avail. in CS in the perferredsection, where you will be closer to everything, That will help make a cozier vacation, too.

First I'm a huge fan of POFQ but i've also stayed at Coranado springs and it wasn't bad. I personally didn't notice too much of the conventioners but maybe i was there when it wasn't too bad. if you can't transfer your reservations, don't fret, it's a good place to stay too. (it's just so big if your room is far you might have alot of walking)

While I love PORS and FQ there is nothing at all wrong with CS. In fact it could easily be considered one of the most adult only friendly resorts. If you can't switch do not sweat it. My wife and I sent 5 days there sans kids and had a great time.

I wouldn't worry about switching, especially since you'll have to pay a $50 fee for making changes past the 45 day mark. My husband and I love Coronado Springs. We like to run, and it's really peaceful jogging around the water in the morning. The scenery is beautiful and I don't think it feels like a "convention" hotel at all. It's also a very quiet resort and nice for couples, at least in my opinion.

I have to admit I'm biased though...we live in New Orleans, so POR and POFQ seem like cheap copies compared to the real thing! :D

I've got a co-worker (WITH a wife & a kid) who loved Coronado and is planning to return there this year. Were I to demean myself into ever staying at a moderate again :lookaroun I'd like to give Coronoado a whirl.

Hey, we will be at disney at the same time. I arrive on the 18th and leave the 25th. I will be there for my honeymoon. While I have never stayed at any of those resorts im sure no matter what resort you get you will have a great time. I have stayed at the pop century 3 times and this will be my 4th. I know honeymoon at the pop century. We wanted to stay at one of the more expensive places but its cheaper and we are the type that wake up for the opening of the park and stay to the last minute so all we do is sleep at the resort. Not sure if your like that but if all your doing is sleeping there I wouldn't worry about which hotel im at.
See you in line somewhere. have a good trip.

We stayed at the CS before and really enjoyed it, didn't see to much of business people. Give it a try, it is very beautiful and I think you may enjoy it.

Coronado Springs is a beautiful resort, and as others have said it is a more adult friendly hotel. The conventioniers sre not a huge deal and when I stayed there last there wasn't a convention in progress so you may get lucky.

I say stick with your original reservations!
Honestly you are going to find that you will be spending most of your time in the parks so does it really matter where you are staying

You may just find that you really enjoy the resort and would want to stay there on your next trip!

Have a wonderful time!

If you're not worried about the size of the resort, I would stay. CSR is absolutely beautiful (and the food is great,) you won't be disappointed =)
