Trip Report “Excuse me ma’am, can you put your phone away? Snow White doesn’t like apples” March 2019 *COMPLETED*

Sadly, I’ve been back in the real world for 4 days, but I’m glad to say that it was a great trip! Different, but still great. Surprisingly, the Disney depression is not very high (not sure if that’s a good thing :hilarious:), but I don’t want to take any risks, so let’s get this TR started!

For those of you who are just joining, I’d like to say welcome and feel free to read my PTR for background info.

Before I start, I want to warn everyone that I only have a month left before the semester is over. :joyfull: With that being said, the next 4 weeks might get extremely busy and I may not have a lot of time to post, so please bear with me. I don’t want to drag this TR out like I did with the last one, but I make no promises. :hilarious:

I think it’s actually Italian? Interesting that they were serving it in France 🤷‍♀️ Enjoying your report!
You’re correct! (just looked it up) I assumed it was French seeing how it was in the France pavilion. Apparently it’s the Italian version of grits. Maybe the French were the 1st to bake it into bread? Idk. It sure was tasty!

So sorry to hear about your family, but it's great to hear things are looking up!
Thank you. I really do appreciate it.

We continued on after France.

They’ve already adorned the Ratatouille show building with the Go Away Green.

I’m still excited about this attraction!

Sergio was coming out to do a show.

He sure is fun to watch.

Since we were already in Italy, I decided to return to Primavera Kitchen for my last outdoor kitchen of the trip.

Tri-colored Cheese Tortellini (Sage Butter and Chicken Veloute)

:hungry: I’m not sure what type of cheese was stuffed inside the tortellini, but it was sooo good! After last year’s disappointing menu, Primavera Kitchen sure did make a comeback.

I grabbed a table by the trains and watched them while I ate.

It looked like the sky was about to open up, so a couple of maintenance guys came out and started to take the locomotives and cars off the track.

I was still kind of snacky, and after seeing a few of y’all get some in recent TRs prior to this trip, I paid the Werther’s shop a visit for some caramel corn.

As most of y’all know, the inside of this store smells like Heaven.

:hungry::hungry: I swear this is the best caramel corn I’ve ever had! I couldn’t get over how cheap it was either. This was a small and it was only $3.99. They sure did stuff a lot in the bag. I ate about half of it before getting full. This was my first time getting something from the Werther’s shop, and it definitely won’t be my last!

I headed to Norway because I’d gotten a FP for Frozen earlier.

Now this is the type of trivia I like reading about. :geek:

For some odd reason, it never dawned on me that they'd have to take in the model trains. I like how they just push them back in the tunnel, until they can power them up again, after a storm.

Next up was O Canada. The next show was in 10mins, so we didn’t have to wait long. I absolutely love O Canada, and each time I see it, my desire to visit @amjt660 ‘s homeland greatens. I’m interested to see what the rumored new film will be like. I know a lot people don’t like him as the narrator, but I hope they keep Martin Short.

After O Canada, our next stop was the U.K. pavilion.

We went inside the Sportsman’s Shoppe so L could get something for a friend.

I wandered around outside the store and saw this.

EXPOSED WIRING?! 😲 ARE YOU FREAKIN’ SERIOUS?! THE MAGIC IS RUINED! BAD SHOW DISNEY! Jk :hilarious: I was surprised though. Disney usually hides stuff like this pretty well.

We went in a few more stores then headed to France.

My time to hit up some outdoor kitchens was running out. There were 2 items left that I wanted to get, so I decided to check off the 1st one.

Fleur de Lys: Canard Confit a la Provençal (Braised Duck Confit with Tomatoes and Olives on Polenta)
View attachment 373047
O. MY. GOD. Words can’t describe how good this was, and the portion was huge! They always have some form of duck at Fleur de Lys during F&G and it’s always incredible, but this is the absolute best I’ve had so far! The duck was flavorful and tender, the polenta (French cornbread) was good and sweet, and the tomato sauce was fantastic! I wish I could go back rn just so I can get this! Fleur de Lys never fails to please my taste buds, and that is why it is my favorite F&G outdoor kitchen.

That wiring is supposed to be exposed. That is the grounding wire for the lightening arresters on the roof.

Actually, they weren’t pushing the trains back in the tunnel, they were making sure that nothing was in the tunnel. Like I said, the maintenance workers take the trains off the track whenver it rains, and after the park closes.

We went in the Christmas shop to get M an ornament. M has made it a tradition to get one from there every trip, so we got one for her since she wasn’t able to come.

We stopped and saw the cuckoo clocks one more time.

You can’t see them because they were out of frame, but there was this boy, probably 10ish (aka old enough to know better), throwing the tantrum of all tantrums. (Idk what about) After spitting in the faces of his grandparents, while screaming about every cuss word in the book, (nope, that wasn’t a typo), he latched onto the leg of his mother and proceeded to bite her.

Both L and I were appalled, but sadly not surprised when his mother and grandparents acted as if it was normal behavior. If we had ever acted like that in public when we were kids, which we didn’t, we wouldn’t be able to sit down for a month. If I was his mother, I would’ve torn the little brat‘s behind up right then and there. There’s no excuse for a kid to act like that.

I'm half wondering if the kid may have had some psychological (mental illness) issues. Just a guess, as I've heard of some children who act out like that, having specific mental/medical conditions.

But if it wasn't the above, then that's a really bad scene all around. We'd never get away with that as kids.

I know it seems like I’d been doing nothing but eating (partially true :hilarious:), but I was hungry yet again. It was time for an EPCOT tradition.

:hungry::hungry: In terms of food, there’s nothing that I look more forward to every trip than this. Just like last year, I had it toasted. It was good as always!

I can’t remember what L got but it was already 8, so we went ahead and grabbed our spot for IllumiNations.

Same spot as the other night, but at the bottom level.

One last IllumiNations overload

The weather was nasty. Misting rain, windy, and very cold. It was like 49 degrees with a 41 windchill. L and I put on ponchos, but the wind turned that into a disaster. :hilarious: After 5 minutes of wearing mine, I’d had enough and chucked it in the nearest trash can.

9pm finally arrived and for the last time in person I heard Jim Cummings say,

"Good evening. On behalf of Walt Disney World, the place where dreams come true, we welcome all of you to Epcot and World Showcase. We're gathered here tonight around the fire as people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousands of years before us... to share the light... and to share a story. An amazing story as old as time itself, but still being written. And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. We hope you enjoy our story tonight: Reflections of Earth".
