    The Monorail Playset Motor Thread

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/racing-motors/jr-torque-tuned-2-motor-pro/ The issue is still that this motor has metal brushes that may not last long. The next motor in the line that has carbon brushes is the Hyper Dash 3 which may be faster than you want.

The real monorail headlights are white. Unfortunately the 2xAA batteries do not provide enough voltage to power white LEDs. However; I wrote an article on how to install white LEDs in a WDW monorail. http://monorail.suzieandbob.com/ho_headlights.html

The little black wirewound cylinder (sometimes covered with yellow plastic) is an inductor that may be to suppress motor electrical noise and may act as a fuse if the motor shorts out or pulls too much current (which may be what burnt out yours). The inductance is too low for my meter to...

New battery terminals are available from Amazon and eBay: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R22M813/?coliid=I1RK0UJY1M1K2M&colid=3ANH85SWPJ766&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it The wires connected to the terminals are probably also corroded and may need to be resoldered or replaced.

I don't check this forum often, hope you are still there. :) Yes, the monorails have gotten slower and noisier. The motors are wound for slower speed and the gears appear to be poorly molded compared to the first models (non-opening doors). I have installed Tamiya's Torque Tuned motors, they...

While we are discussing motors: HyperDash is a good motor but maybe a bit more than some modelers need. I have installed several Torque-Tuned motors and they are quite a bit faster than the original but draw less current than HyperDash. I have also installed some Rev-Tuned motors, they are...

Of the two drive wheels underneath only one has rubber on it. Sometimes the rubber piece becomes loose and will not transmit power very well. Most of the more recent monorails have a much slower motor than the original red one (without opening doors). boB http://monorail.suzieandbob.com/

HO scale you say? Here is the fully operational WhisperJet 36, with no Disney content. 36 mm wide x 100 mm long, much smaller (and much closer to HO scale) than our favorite monorail model. Like the other WJ chassis it will run on Disney beam or on 8 mm wide rectangular beam.

WhisperJet is the answer. A belt drive for the monorail that is fast, smooth, and quiet (and like you mentioned, it uses a race car motor). It goes around a circle of beam in about 10 seconds where an average stock monorail takes 20+. http://monorail.suzieandbob.com/ Here is the chassis and a...

That is a great layout and video! Here is a photo of an urban transportation layout, not mine but I provided the (operating) N scale monorail. My own N scale layout is started and I expect to have it running soon, same monorail and beam.

I am making replacement parts by machining and 3D printing. Let me know what you need. I also install radio control, upgraded audio, and of course faster motors. The most exciting thing is WhisperJet, a fast, smooth, quiet belt drive system that installs in place of the original gearbox.

Btw, it appears that model monorails count too. so here are some photos (and videos) of my N scale WDW monorail: http://monorail.suzieandbob.com/front_lights.mp4 http://monorail.suzieandbob.com/rear_lights_2.mp4
