I assume you're referring to LL. Same analogy applies to many meals, hotels, snacks and souvenirs at Disney. I would buy the equivalent, in a heartbeat, if I visited an international park. My conclusion, LLPP makes sense for some guests. Not AP holders who go multiple times every year

Aren't LLMP timed. Offer fewer LLMP during busy times.

I'll speculate, without any evidence to support it, guest interest in the older less thrilling attractions is way down. Much less interest in seeing everything. Hall of President's, CoP, Philamagic,Tiki....are almost always almost walk ons.

Discounted rates, including the mandatory resort fee, are often comparable to Disney moderate resorts. Discounted rates, included the mandatory resort fee and optional parking fee, are often less then Crescent Lake Disney deluxe resorts. Comparing them to Disney value is crazy.
