WDW to Build New North Entrance to Property

They just repaved it last week or the week before. I drive the North Service Area weekdays when I go to work. They have speed limit signs up (40 MPH if you care), but no stripes yet. I hope they open it soon, I would love to bypass Center Drive on my way to and from work.

    News Crossroads Plaza Faces Demoliton

Totally forgot about the Qdoba, and I agree on that! I hate traffic, so that area just drives me nuts. I picked the area I live in because there's relatively little traffic and generally no tourist traffic. If I didn't have to get on I-4 to get to my office I would likely never be in that area...

    News Crossroads Plaza Faces Demoliton

I'm sure Disney did have something to say about this, as they should. They are a business and the mess of traffic in that area does impact them. Yes, there are some good restaurants in the plaza, but to say that the closing of Crossroads is going to eliminate inexpensive alternatives is just a...

    News Crossroads Plaza Faces Demoliton

This is so true. I live in Windermere, near-ish MK. I drive this way to my office on I Drive / Kirkman area and while most of Orlando is a mess of traffic, that whole area is awful. I get up early on weekdays to go to the gym before work to avoid the traffic, and even at 6:45 AM traffic is bad...

Rumor New nighttime show at Epcot

According to an article on Wired, the PyeongChang show used 1,218 drones, which set a record for most drones used in a show.

If you were relocating. . .

For me, I prefer Windermere and Winter Garden. I currently live in Windermere out on 535 and Reams. There is very little tourist traffic there, though there is some. My area there are a lot of cast members going to and from the Magic Kingdom cast lot, but move a bit north and it's not too...

How close are you to WDW?

I am 3 miles North East of Cinderella Castle (floors shake during Happily Ever After). I can't see HEA from my place, but I can see ROE from my living room (third-floor apartment). I'm at least on property almost daily, and like most this close do a lot of quick trips.

    Adventureland addition question...?

Either of the maps for Adventureland pose a big problem for parades. Caribbean Way is the road that the parade floats take to step off for Spectro and from step down to the parade center for the day parades. Anything that would be build there would have to be positioned just right to prevent...

    Disney dumping McDonald's...great decision

Fried foods such as those from McDonald's are found all over the world, yet the rest of the world does not have the obesity problem that we have in the USA. In my travels I've found that the primary difference is that we eat more "bad" foods, and have severely less physical activity. As an...

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

LOL No, I caught the straight man reference! That's what I love about PI and Disney in general, meeting new people. I love to travel and often alone, so I always enjoy meeting new people, experiencing different cultures and learning about other peeps. Anyway, take care!

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

Hey! Maybe I'll see you there! I'm going on June 1 for obvious reasons.

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

Interesting considering I've heard fewer and fewer complaints from guests, and the fact that numbers continue to go up. Heck, even the Southern Baptists stopped their boycott. If Disney was losing money, don't you think they would discourage any Gay Day events from going on? Perhaps not...

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

I never said they depend on the income, however the loss of several millions of dollars that has been there annually for the last 16 years will be felt. Further the week of Gay Day is typically the slowest of the season, right after Memorial Day and before schools let out. That's why this week...

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

You're right. However, I don't see Disney and the Orlando area turning their noses at the over 100,000 gay men and women who visit the area every June. I don't see Disney telling Johnny Chisolm that he can't rent Typhoon Lagoon and the Disney / MGM Studios for their gay parties. We bring the...

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

Well you're right. We gays should take our MILLIONS of dollars we bring to Disney and Orlando every year and go somewhere else. In fact, shame on Disney (a business) for catering to a crowd with disposable income who consistently spends that income in their establishment. Because a small...

Pleasure Island changes with confirmed dates

Personally I think the island's problems started with the lack of parking. Once the West Side opened, DTD became insanely busy on the weekends. Parking was always an issue, but people continued to come to PI because it was so unique. After 9/11 and cost cutting, Disney got rid of the...
