Avatar has not proven itself to be the sort of franchise like Star Wars that makes AN IMMEDIATE and Lasting impact. People talked about Star Wars years after its release. It has the kind of quality that makes it timeless. Avatar lacks that. It is not a franchise that will stay relevant.

Not trying to start one, just pointing out the huge flaws that Avatar as a franchise in the parks has. Disney has a few hurdles to cross if they want to make it something will want to come down and see as Harry has down for Universal.

In terms of a franchise that has a fleshed out universe, characters, locations, and possible merchandise, Star Wars trumps Avatar in most every way. I'd much rather see Lucasland :P than Avatar. Ask people to name characters from Avatar, then Star Wars. That's all you need.
