Al Lutz: "Next Generation" RFID personalization coming to Fantasyland attractions

Just to throw out a few numbers for the ppl making arguments for or against RFIDs: According to my electronics professor, someone that owns a portion of the patent on this idea and helped perfect it (he's soon to be billionaire in all likelihood i might add), the range of an RFID can be...

Al Lutz: "Next Generation" RFID personalization coming to Fantasyland attractions

I actually am taking a class from the professor that owns part of the patent for this RFID technology. I can only say I wish I owned it rather than him haha The technology is simply brilliant... will cut on many expenses in the longrun. I'm not surprised that Disney is getting into it.

    Disney buses to go green

Who knows? In the near future, you might not be buying any kind of cylinder engine. Those rotary (el) engines might even make a comeback. haha ;) And you know you mentioned combustion engine advancements. Try searching chemical exergy/availabilty of fuel. You'd be surprised at how...

    Disney buses to go green

Unfortunately, you just can't do much with the plain reciprocating internal combustion engines. Conversion is expensive and doesn't necessarily increase efficiency as much as a new car, with a lighter chasis, a better transmission, and a proper engine. Hybrid is (part of) the answer. This is...

    Disney buses to go green

As far as Hydrogen goes, we can't really work out the manufacturing of H2. The Second Law of Thermo says that we can't get as much energy out of hydrogen as we did to make it (assuming electrolosis is used). Simply put, a fuel cell reverses electrolosis to make electricity. This second law...

    Monsters, Inc. Hollywood Studios rumor

I don't see any problems in putting coaster track in a preexisting building... as long as some type of entrance can be made for construction materials and footings can be placed into a well-defined slab foundation (I assume that this building has a substantial foundation, since Disney seems to...

    Disney buses to go green

Hydrogen is not the answer in the current state of things. 2 Major Problems for Hydrogen Economy: 1. Containment: You kind of touched on this, skirted arounded it anyway... Not only is H2 unsafe in compressed conditions, but what's a larger problem is the size of the molecule. The...

    Disney buses to go green

The author seems to avoid the same processes that take place for gasoline. Since the Hummers take roughly about 2 or 3 times as much gas, you've gotta double or triple the processing inefficiencies that take place for oil refining.

    Disney buses to go green

Those hybrid batteries might be better on the enviroment if total emmisions eventually were cut by a significant amout. TDI is working for VW, but the Toyota hybrids are really taking advantadge of the tech.

    Disney buses to go green

Propane sounds interesting, haven't researched much about it. Hybrids are certainly a good option as well. However, Hydrogen? That's a crock (the actual fuel-cell is extremely efficient technology, but getting that H2 is pretty difficult). And unfortunately, Solar is too (at the moment)...

    Disney buses to go green

I'm curious as to what other options you mention... What other options are there? I'm just curious to hear what the industry is pushing.

    Disney buses to go green

Not to mention that the current bus engines wouldn't run on ethanol without replacement...Good alternate fuels don't currently exist That is as simple as it can be put. Hybrid technology is the best current solution, but I'm not certain on how useful hybrids engines work on a heavy bus - I...

Value And Moderates to get Interior Hallways?

Eliminating the doors, though, creates a larger issue. The hallways are a new space to air condition, I would say nearly doubling the amount volume of space needing AC. Plus big AC units would be needed to pump in the wealth of cold air. Although I'm not certain, I'd bet that those little...

    Question about Stormalong Bay.

I don't think that's a problem. Disney automatically assumes that you would go to the park on your departure day if you use the default vacation guider on their website, so i don't see the problem with using the pool on your last day.

Only a year and a half away from Harry Potter Land and still nothing from Disney!

Well I think I've found the spokesperson for Potterland...er, the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter(tm)." Just kidding

    Silly Question for the Southerners

I think WDW serves some kind of NesTea flavor... I think it might be raspberry. Wouldn't exactly say that NesTea is sweet tea anyway, though.

    What Happend to Project Gemini???

I'd be more of a fan of something that is a larger tribute to great innovators, scientists, and engineers (to me, Future World is somewhat of an homage to the many contributors of industry, technology, etc.). The current monument of sorts is the engraved tiles found between The Land and...

    Splash mountain water jets question.

There are in fact 3 collections of water cannons that create the splashes on SM. Two of these are located on either side of the large drop, and both of these are a collections of different gauge water cannons. The third one is one large cannon located within the briar facade and used to give...
