We were down in Orlando on 9/17/2001. The parks were very, very empty. It just didn't feel right. It didn't feel alive. I think having crowds make the park more active and enjoyable. I don't like standing in 3 hour lines, but 15-20 minutes waits are just long enough to enjoy the environment.

AS an additional note, the drying time for a load of clothes can take a really long time. I think it took about 2 hours to get a load dried.

They do sell some detergent, not cheap. It is the small samples for 1 load only. If you split it, you can probably get 2 out of it.

They do have "do-it" yourself on site laundry service. It is near the pool. I don't remember the actual charge, but it was around $1.50+. Bring some quaters.
