Hawaii is the only longhouse that has concierge rooms. You can always ask at check in which building you are in and if you are not happy with it you can ask for a change, I've done that alot.

everywhere will be packed! we use to go for the 4th but it is just way to busy for us. with the 4th being on a saturday I am sure it will be really crazy. MK was usually packed and at capacity by noon. We had a hard time even getting into the polynesian and we had a concierge room there!!

I go to the California Grill every trip, cant beat the view.

You will be in the concierge (Hawaii) building. I would suggest a 3rd floor room. Its also nice to ask for a room at the end of the building by the club lounge. In my opinion I would stay in this room your entire trip. When I stayed at the Grand Floridian I felt like I was in a 12 year old girls...

Out of curiosity why isnt the Polynesian in consideration, in my opion its more romantic than the other monorail resorts

Buy a season pass and get the passholder rate which is pretty good the weeks right after the holidays are over
