The parks around my area are busy with hikers and bikers and all sorts of folks enjoying the outdoors much the same as those who live near beaches. I think there were a lot of interesting camera angles with the beach photos that created the false outrage.

So you’re saying you believe the part of the article that says the role of transmission in children is unclear, but you don’t believe the part that states that the role of children spreading the disease is thought to be insignificant?

I agree with what you’re saying about the headline. It’s become the norm in “journalism.” I’ve noticed that even the many articles I read with misleading headlines still contain valuable info.

People are “calling out” the study so it’s surely invalid. 😉

You make a good point, but the article states that it’s not believed children play a significant role in transmission. It could be that they have stronger immune systems resulting in less virus in their bodies and less virus to shed. The body of the article doesn’t say it can’t be spread by...

Maybe you're not reading my post? I said "it seems" and I genuinely asked you a question. I certainly wasn't trying to misquote you. As for your current post, as a business owner I'm not sure what "government assistance" a shuttered restaurant would receiving. Could you clarify? If opened, a...

I guess I'm missing your logic. It seems you're stating that restaurants should be forced to keep their dining rooms closed because potential guests might not want to come in? Do you think citizens should be able to make those choices themselves or do you think citizens need more enlightened...

I'm not sure I understand your reasoning. You do realize at least 22,000,000 people have lost jobs in the past month. I guess they're just greedy?

The positive from this study is that there are possibly 50-85 times as many cases as being reported which would bring the fatality rate down drastically. It could very well end up being that this virus, though more contagious than influenza, has a similar rate of mortality.

SARS has a 9% mortality rate which is incredibly high, but it's incubation can be as long as 10 days. With more than 90% of those infected surviving it certainly isn't contained by its mortality rate.

I think the flu comparisons are fair. I think it is important to compare this virus to many others in an attempt to better understand the potential of the outbreak. r0 is very important, but SARS has an r0 in the 2-5 range and it didn't infect millions. If you search the internet for the r0 of...

The fired employees received their unemployment benefits. As the employer, the state sent me a form indicating what the fired employees collected. Also, my unemployment insurance rate was raised the following year. I'm just pointing out that here, as employers, we are not required to do anything...

Not sure what state you're in, but in my state I've owned a business for 25 years and I've had to fire a few people over the years. I never notified anyone other than the employee concerned. They were still able to receive unemployment benefits.

The US has 35 ventilators per 100,000 population while Italy has 12. They have a much older population and they kiss each other's cheeks as a greeting. It's difficult to compare any two countries regarding the spread of this virus.
