It's not heat. Southern California does not have the intense 100% humidity that Florida does. Nor does it have the constant daily guarantee of thunderstorms and rain during 6-8 months of the year. Nor does it have a hurricane season.

They were chosen because of their height, it gives Spaceship Earth the illusion of more height because the palms are pointing upwards like vertical arrows.

I'm more bothered that they took the time to repaint the Streets of America facades and add the Baseline facade, but didn't bother to touch up the adjoining Sci-Fi Dine-In's beige and bare soundstage look. Was it too hard to give it that same brick Baseline look?

Personally, I too have always thought of Tyson as a suitable narrator for Spaceship Earth , especially after viewing the Cosmos series he hosted. He would be my vote.
