Well I was right. The tokistar product is extremely expensive - at least to me. for a 50 foot (about 65 lights) run, transformer etc - the price is 800.00 50 feet is hardly enough to do much of a tree - so that's the answer it can be done and if you have the cash - go for it.

Yup that's the old way they did it - I am waiting on a quote on the tokistar product - I bet it won't be cheap!

C7 flashing lights, C9 flashers, chasers, mini twinkle lights etc etc - all flash too harshly. The Tokistar product has a microchip in each light to produce a slow fade on and off the are called "Kinetic Tokileads" I can't wait to see the price! There are some other products out there but...
