The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Underwhelming is really the best way to describe the nighttime shows. On the bright side, I don't feel bad about letting my AP's expire next week.

News Walt Disney World to resume sales of Annual Passes (New sales resume April 20, 2023)

Why are you comparing the renewal rates to the cost of a new pass? Wouldn't it be more accurate to do an "apples to apples" comparison of renewal rates?

News Walt Disney World to resume sales of Annual Passes (New sales resume April 20, 2023)

Plus $99 if you want to keep PhotoPass. I am almost positive this is why it's not included in blackout dates this year.

What is your favorite subtle detail from any attraction?

Back in 2012, Len Testa did a few Disney Dish podcasts with Sam Gennawey where they walked around the Magic Kingdom and talked about the design and architecture of the park. So much great information for people who love the parks.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

We were there last month and the mask requirements changed during the middle of the trip. At the beginning of our trip, masks were still required indoors and attractions, but we did not have to put them on for the animal trails.

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

That's what they do at Disneyland and it works wonderfully. And they have crowd control during fireworks down to a science there.

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I remember attending Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom from 11pm-2am in early May back in 2009.

And isn't attached to every ride. DL's system is so much better.

    New restaurant mask rule

We just got back from Disney. We saw some guests that chose to keep their masks on until food or drinks came out and some that took them off immediately after being seated. Most of the time this wasn't commented on. The only place it was mentioned was at Jock Lindsey's. The host there simply...

    New restaurant mask rule

I think that they amended the rule to cut down on the number of people taking up space at quick service restaurants who aren't eating. A lot of people are treating them like relaxation stations.

News Park hopping to return January 1st 2021

Wondering the same thing. Also wondering how that would work with ADRs. If I can't hop to a park, will you waive my ADR cancellation fee?

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It's yield management. And I wonder if Disney would use this as an opportunity to introduce something similar to MaxPass to limit physical interactions and then start charging for it. We took a lot of short trips over the past year. On most of those trips it was extremely difficult to get FP...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

We don't plan to go again until January 2021, but I agree. Of course, we're DVC owners with APs and we don't even do full days anymore. I think that our next trip will have a completely different feel after everything that has happened over the last few months. I'd like to think that the...

What WDW podcasts do you listen to?

Not technically a podcast but if you liked the original WDW Today podcast, most of the group has been doing a weekly broadcast on YouTube. It called "That Thing with Len, Mike, Mike & Annette."

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

I'm a little behind, so bear with me. You would think that completing the pathway from the GF to MK would be high priority right now. So only loading every other cabin while only loading one party per cabin? That would reduce capacity far too much. Think of all the people waiting who also...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

In NC, I can't even get a haircut until phase 2. At best, phase 2 starts in June, but that is assuming the stay at home order doesn't get extended and that we can progress through phase 1 within 2 -3 weeks. I could see them opening Disney Springs and the DVC resorts before opening the parks...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I think water has to be available at no cost. I would think free water provided at QS locations would be acceptable.

Ticket price increase / FP+ changes coming?

But they added FP to lots of attractions when they rolled out FP+. Spaceship Earth, PotC, IASW, etc. were all better without FP.

Ticket price increase / FP+ changes coming?

MaxPass works better because they didn't add it almost every attraction in the park. If we used a MaxPass-type system that only included legacy FP attractions, I think the system would be much better.

    News Disney Riviera Resort announced

There's no reason except transportation, to stay at a deluxe if you're not going to spend time at the hotel. You can have skyliner access at Pop Century for much less. That's what I can't get over. The point cost compared to BCV or BWV. I would rather stay at either of those hotels. If I'm...
