News Mizner's Lounge to be expanded at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort into a Beauty and the Beast inspired lounge

As the original source--used to post here years ago, still pop in on occasion to read Martin's posts and see if the Spirit ever returned--it's not a joke. I wish it were. Construction starts in 2 weeks. I want to say current Mizner's capacity is around 65; they'll be adding a huge bar in the...

    A Spirited Valentine ...

Talked to some friends in the business today (groundlings, no one near the level of a George K). Word from on high is that Disney Springs is absolutely slaughtering business at many of the locations above--Citricos and Jiko were mentioned specifically. Apparently guests would rather get better...

New nighttime show 'Rivers of Light' confirmed to be coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

Fireworks (and fire, I suppose) are primal. They'll always be attention-getting on a basic human level. There are some simple things that theme parks, no matter how technologically advanced, should still never get rid of. I don't care how many audio-animatronics and screenz you have, crowds are...

Planet Hollywood unveils redesign for Disney Springs

The whole thing feels like a Frankenstein's monster of a restaurant to me. Like halfway through making the planned Jekyll-&-Hyde-Club-like "Observatory"/"Stargazers Lounge" they gave up on that theme and ran back to Planet Hollywood to keep the name and some (but hardly all) of the PH...

Characters in Flight closing for redesign

Saw it today, it looks sharp. Of course, it will be faded all to hell by September. Sun and rain are not kind to fabric (umbrella on my lanai doesn't last a full Summer either).

High prices at the Arts Festival food kiosks (compared to other EPCOT festivals)

I will say, for all the complaints about "permanent" booths, lines (mostly for booze) were insane on Sunday. Germany wrapped around the building to get to beer window, Odyssey line was out the door, Rose & Crown was its typical madhouse. You could have had four more booths just selling booze and...

High prices at the Arts Festival food kiosks (compared to other EPCOT festivals)

Agreed the art aspects were a bit underwhelming. I think one tent had an artist I hadn't seen before. Otherwise, the usual suspects--David Doss, Jasmine Becket Griffith, the "Boiled Pages" lady (who is actually wonderful, I wish I could remember her name). Very talented people, but nothing you...

    Mardi Gras Question

If park is open until 10, rides will stay open. On days the parade closes the park, will generally let you get in line right until parade steps off. The event is limited to Studios, has no effect on IoA.

2016 Christmas Week Phase Closing watch

A few factors at work here: (1) An unusual number of schools are off New Year's week rather than Christmas Eve week (most of south FL for instance). Spreads the crowds over three weeks rather than the traditional two. (2) Tiered pricing seems to be working. That new creation "Fall Break" had...

    Alcohol in the Magic Kingdom

As the "mayor' of two of those places, very familiar with a third ... you're wrong. They're not Fantasyland, but still far more kids than you would find in their real world equivalents. Things tend to get more adult after fireworks tho. I assume the two dozen pages of chatter means there has...

Disney Quest to close in July 2017

You could fit 36 holes of indoor mini golf in there and still have 4.5 floors to fill. I think it's a solid idea, but I'd stick it somewhere with less of a footprint (former BET, was once on the table, seemed ideal). I still think a nightlife venue in the vein of the old Church St. Station...

Tiana's Riverboat Party with Festival of Fantasy Parade viewing coming soon

Disney Lifestylers: "$13 for a milkshake??? Too high!!!" [3 months later] "$49 for an ice cream sundae? Sounds about right." Of course, the extra $36 buys you an obstructed view of a lame parade, as a opposed to a seat in an immersive, themed environment.

A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

One time thing, hard to file a C&D letter on that. Of course, I have no idea what the repercussions after were. I would note a regular meet & greet has not become a regular thing since.

A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

So back on topic ... WDW debuted a new street show this weekend. Curiously, the company that held a press conference for new benches didn't make any sort of announcement. Nothing on the Disney Parks Blog or (official) Twitter, nothing even written on maps. Curiouser, despite being an...

Planet Hollywood unveils redesign for Disney Springs

Billboards popping up around town. Dominated by Guy Fieri's face. "Planet Hollywood" in small letters. Didn't see the word "Observatory" at all. Why they didn't just go with "Guy's Burger Town" or something to that effect I don't know, they're clearly trying to sell this as his restaurant.

    Volcano Bay

I think that's misdirection. But do seem to be doubling down on evening hours--won't last beyond Summer 2017.

A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

He was always associated most closely with the Defenders, not the Avengers, in Marvel lore, so makes sense. Any idea how TWDC plans to deal with the fact that even the characters WDW can use can't be advertised from Atlanta to Miami? To me that seems as much of a deal-breaker as them being...

    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

I've heard the nickle-and-dime complaint about RCLL a lot. And obviously I love DCL having been on five of their cruises. But at a certain point the sticker shock is going to hurt them with first-time family cruisers, which is the market they built on.
