Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I have this theory that Disney creates characters to overlay attractions they want to redo. Malestorm had its following but was generally boring for most people, so a vaguely Norwegian world of Frozen seems too perfect of an overlay to be a coincidence. If you observe that Malestorm had ties...

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Which is why I expect a tombstone to Ray somewhere 😬

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Ray was such a crazy choice as a character (he felt like Cledus from The Simpsons) but I was so confused when he had to d-i-e in the movie. So I wonder if there will be a nod to him anywhere in this attraction...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Art wise it DOES fit the time period. This has a very Regionalist look, like Thomas Hart Benton, which was a big part of pre and post WW2 art, and often took on agrarian or industrial themes. I'm excited about this attraction continuing a story for Tiana and her world. If it was a book...

MK Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and acts

I thought it was just one the bears from the show out and about in Frontierland. Kinda like when the animatronics at Itchy and Scratchy Land turned against the humans 😛

News Rogers the Musical coming to the Hyperion Theater

Since Lin Manuel Miranda is on payroll it would be great if they just put a 45 min version of Hamilton in here.

MK Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and acts

It's a continuation of the Bears now doing a Disney song review. It's a cute update. Would you rather it be gutted or be Woody's Roundup?...which would already be a dated afterthought. Count ur blessin

MK Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and acts

This is a seasonal overlay that will be permanent and probably relevant to families again and merch oriented. I have fond memories 20 years ago of my aunt telling me how funny it was. The target demographic for this attraction at that time was south eastern US families visiting Florida.

MK Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and acts

Since this is happening whether you like it or not, which songs would you like to hear? I'll start: You've Got a Friend in Me Scales and Arpeggios (Aristocats) maybe while they tune up Intentionally obnoxious It's a Small World Almost There (to connect to Tiana's Bayou) Love is a Song...

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Seeing the water tower (that everyone hates) in context shows the effort to blend this project into Frontierland

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

I have this long held theory that Disney has an elaborate process for creating IP that will overlay into existing attractions in the parks that they know need updating. Frozen worked too perfectly in the Norway pavilion to be a coincidence, and I tend to think Tiana's story always had a path...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I'm going to dissent and say that I actually like the water tower. I especially like how another post pointed out that Tiana reconfigured the sugar mill into her river boat restaurant, so the jazzing up of a watertower fits in her story. Everybody hates a book report ride until they get a...

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Since Disney likes to be morbid (hanging people on attractions, murdered settlers, send you to hell) maybe there will be a little tombstone in the queue for Ray (the firefly) ...it was so dang sad when he DIED in the movie. I was like why.......

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

I will admit, I was on a comparable to Splash log flume at Dollywood in Tennessee with my 7 yo niece, and she was terrified, but fine after the drop. I think there will be enough interaction with Tiana's world around the attraction, probably a meet and greet, and the paired restaurants to...

    Dinosaur has seen better days

Pixar needs to make a dinosaurs movie. Maybe a Toy Story origin where T-Rex is a real dino in the dino age 🙈

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Then perhaps the queue of Tiana's will create a story that is no less contrived than this one. Splash was honestly born out of Eisner wanting a thrilling flume, Baxter wanting to not trash America Sings. "Splash" thrown in to market the mermaid movie "Splash"...imagine how weird if the...

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

There are waterfalls in bayou areas. Bayous exist around main waterways (like uhhhhhh the Mississippi River) I don't seem to remember a waterfall coming out of Brer Fox's stump in Song of the South, or the briar patch being in water. So I think it makes more sense around the salt mine and...

Rumor New Orleans Mini-Land and "Reimagined" Country Bear Jamboree

Of course. But with MK opening in 71, the bicentennial on the horizon for 76, and no need for New Orleans in Central Florida; those must have been factors. Wondering what this would look like for the future of Liberty Square. Surely they've thought about it.
