News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I think it’s a harmless way to bridge the gap between thematic integrity and guest expectations. To a lay person Zootopia = Animals = Animal Kingdom and if the survey data is loud enough sometimes you have to meet people where they are. The job is to find a creative way to do it.

So we all agree that tomorrow's meeting has been canceled because it's likely Bridget gets ousted from the Sarasota County Schools Board today?

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

At the risk of missing the joke, that's not corporate (Team Disney/Michael D. Eisner). It's within the Roy E. Disney Animation Building itself. Decorating the studio with art from the film currently in production is normal. It'll come down when they start the next show.

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

It would probably look very much like Anaheim, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai, where Disney worked with local government to get infrastructure built that would primarily benefit them - but not exclusively. It also probably wouldn't have been in Central Florida. Paris was the closest attempt to...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

It's just the way the game is played. I've wasted hours of my life listening to every single dues paying member of the SEIU address the LA County Board of Supervisors with the same prepared statement. All for a 15 second hit on the local news. Doesn't change reality.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Yeah that's the catch-22 here. Plus the perception hit such a move would cause. Talking to people on the inside, I've heard the name Jared Bush float around. Byron's a great director and a great artist but you need somebody shrewder than that. I also put a bit of blame on Clark Spencer for...

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

BTW: I say that as somebody who describes themselves as a Disney fan, not a theme park fan. I'm not going to Orlando for Universal or SeaWorld, but I'm also not just going to take whatever crap Disney serves up either.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Truthfully? Withdrawing from the market a bit. Changing up leadership. Putting things back in the oven. Listening to audiences. Wish was too arrogant, too Chapek/consumer products. Serving up more of the same while treating the audience like idiots wear the brand like a fashion label. I'm glad...

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

This stuff goes in cycles. 20 years ago people felt the same way, 20 years ago before that too. Disney's got a brand issue. Much like they did 20 years ago, and 20 years before that. It will change.

I guess the correct Disney term is project hire. Their badges are blue, not green. They are W-2 and get Disney benefits but can be let go at the end of the project.

They are employees on a time limited contract. But they picked up people expecting them to roll over to this show and now the show's canceled. Still counts as layoffs.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Not the first time. There was a long gap between Moana and Ralph 2. People who have journeyman status (i.e. the core people) will be safe. My guess was they were waiting to see if Wish would leg out like Elemental before making any decisions about the future.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Well, the other shoe dropped today. I've heard from friend at the studio that layoffs have started and the untitled 2024 Disney Animation film might have been put on hiatus. (No big loss, it was more of the same from Jen Lee) If that's the case, it's unknown what will be released (maybe Elio...

Old site was AWS. New site is Cloudflare. The hosting choice probably depends on who got the contract to redesign it.

The Sarasota newspaper of record, the Herald-Tribune, has published a story: https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/news/politics/2023/11/30/florida-republican-chair-christian-ziegler-accused-of-sexual-battery/71754031007/ So it's real.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

It's probably just a rights clearance thing. The last 3 titles are all adaptations of literary material. I went to a presentation with the cast and crew of Once Upon a Studio and, pardon the pun, it's a tangled mess.

God help us all if a Judge agrees that the agreements are a legitimate violation of public policy, considering the legislature introduced and passed said legislation within 72 hours.

Plus Disney's shown their hand here by suggesting that they have restrictive covenants with all the other property owners. There are no other affected property owners - they had no development rights to begin with. That blows up some of the more technical arguments the district is making.
