Fireworks are just now scheduled projection shows, when did this happen?

I seem to remember that Imagineering was looking into using drones several years ago but the lawyers shot it down. They weren't comfortable with the safety guarantees and liability issues at that point in time. Drone displays are common enough now that you'd think it would be worth revisiting...

Fireworks are just now scheduled projection shows, when did this happen?

They have to keep the neighbors happy and I believe safety restrictions regarding wind are more strict now than they used to be, so they get canceled more often.

News Pacific Wharf to be Reimagined into San Fransokyo

This is all well and fine. Nothing close to mindblowing, but it's making a previously unremarkable corner of the property a bit more memorable. Probably not a ton of value for the money it's costing, but that's true of basically everything nowadays.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

IMO, Peter Pan is far more racist and socially offensive than SotS. I've always believed it's revealing of corporate Disney's true motivations that they've worked proactively hard to bury the latter, while barely bothering to even glance at the much more obvious problems in the former.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

There's no evidence at all that this is happening. If anything, it seems to be the opposite. Disney is quite transparently working to put even more limitations on diehard fans as time goes on, and put more casual fans into the parks in their place. The simple, harsh truth is that Disney...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

This is correct. And more than enough people still consider Disney parks a worthwhile expenditure to validate management's decisions. Most consumers simply aren't bothered by the things that bother the type of person that frequents a Web site like this one.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Disney cares a lot about what its fans think. It has to, just like every other company has to. But most Disney fans aren't like the people posting on social media. WDWmagic, r/Disneyland, Twitter, etc. are not accurate reflections of reality. The opinions expressed here are mostly minority...

Rumor Star Tours AND Buzz Lightyear on their way out?

The issues with Tomorrowland essentially come down to four things... Its infrastructure is heavily interconnected, so it's not feasible to redo it in small pieces Redoing it in one giant swoop is an operational nightmare scenario since, as highlighted in earlier posts, it will require...

Rumor Star Tours AND Buzz Lightyear on their way out?

I have a good idea how valid it is based on the source.

Disney is a struggling company. I don’t see an end in sight.

Sequel and remake fatigue is a real factor in 2023, as well, IMO. It hasn't helped that the majority of Disney's sequels and "universe" films have been exceptionally mediocre for several years running.

Disney is a struggling company. I don’t see an end in sight.

Yes, that seems to be Disney's thought process. But it isn't working out on the business side at the moment, apparently. Maybe they shouldn't be so quick to eschew the "narrow, rigid, and dated" idea of family-oriented entertainment. It's what Walt built the entire company and brand on...

Disney is a struggling company. I don’t see an end in sight.

The Disney brand is starting to show some cracks. The latest Axios Harris Poll has some alarming results. This one stood out to me the most: If it's losing the family-oriented label, what is it going to replace it with...

News Bob Iger Steps Down - Bob Chapek CEO

Virtually every major thing Chapek did with the theme park operations was already in the works to some extent before Iger left. Anybody who imagined the original Bob was going to come in and reverse anything was in a fantasy land not of the Disney variety.

News Bob Iger Steps Down - Bob Chapek CEO

Millionaire stock-holding Fortune 500 executives don't suddenly quit mid-fiscal year for "personal" reasons. If you've ever worked for a large corporation and seen how the C-suite folks operate, you'll know what I'm talking about. They are pathologically enmeshed in their jobs and careers...

This is an apt description of most food options at Disney parks.

Concerning response to a medical incident

Generally, Disneyland is one of the best, safest places on the planet to have a medical emergency. I know of one incident where the victim would have likely not survived if they had been somewhere else. They went into cardiac arrest and it would've taken too long for regular first responders to...

They'll never end it, but it's really not debatable anymore that they want a much more expensive and restricted one.

News New Summer 2023 Ticket Offer for California Residents at Disneyland Resort

Wouldn't surprise me if they're testing demand for this with a long-term eye towards eliminating most MKs and replacing them with permanent, seasonal local discounts.
