Why I may not go again

The key words are maximize your trip. If you don't want to maximize your trip, don't plan and forth no effort. Its like anything else, if you want mediocre results, put forth mediocre effort. My concern would be if a mediocre effort yielded completely unacceptable results. There will always be...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

Good point. A lot of people are OK with splurging and spending more on vacation. But when you factor in having to make reservations for everything, endless planning, and then endless waiting in line for everything, its stressful. To me, the long waits and need for planning is just a slight of...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

Yeah, you raise a few good points, even some I haven't thought of before. I agree that its virtually impossible to have a mega company that focuses on the super rich, there's an old phrase "Produce with the masses, eat with the classes." Even airlines have figured that while businessmen and...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

You raise a good point. The corporate philosophy of some of the park chains was to say "Due to the shutdown and the 'extraordinary circumstances' this might be a good chance to implement policies that we've wanted to do for years." But in reality, maybe this was the wrong time to do it. Since...

Anyone know how the crowds have been this week?

Nah, not really. Parents will pull their kids out of school to go to Disney. For the more responsible parents, the summer is three months long, so its not going to create the same log jam as spring break and winter break. What really drives it is weather. Florida isn't that appeal when its...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

Yeah, this is pretty well put. What's going on with Disney now is just basic Micro Economics and following the supply and demand curve. For years, the parks were overcrowded and Disney could do nothing to contain the demand and was powerless to increase the supply. Now the plan is to raise...

    Crowds in late August?

I think it might depend on if the Brazilian/other South American tour groups hit. They're the reason WDW ever gets any crowds at all in the summer. They may be back with a vengeance. If they stay away, August will be a ghost town. Even still, late August might be getting out of their season...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

I think that the reality is that 1%ers, socialites, and intellectuals don't see theme parks -- even Disney -- as the kind of thing that they're going to spend their money on. They spend their money on the stuff that rich people spend their money on -- Fancy houses, yachts, mistresses...

Look,, if WDW is this crowded.. the OPEN A FIFTH PARK...

My responses to this: This is a very guest centric plea. You're acting like its common sense. It might be common sense that it would benefit you, but you're not the decision maker -- Disney is. What to you would help with crowds and lower costs would cannibalize demand and possibly saturate...

Anyone know how the crowds have been this week?

To me, what is less important than the observed crowd levels, are the rationales behind the observed data, and how they could help with future decision. I have my thoughts and theories, but does anybody else want to chime in on what's driving the unprecedented demand?

Anyone know how the crowds have been this week?

But summers aren't really supposed to be Disney's busiest time of the year. Rational people generally don't say "Well, its the hottest time of the year, and now that the weather is perfect up here up north, let's go fry ourselves to death in Florida." No, November-April are much more attractive...

DIS Is Not Performing Well.. How Will This Effect Disneyworld?

A company's stock price is complicated, and you can't necessarily use it to draw inferences all the time. Especially in terms of how it will affect you directly. Remember, the market price of a share of common stock is just determined by the supply and demand curve and what brokers could expect...

    Crowds - Is this normal!?

I think that the best answer to this is yes, its been like this for years. You're going to have crowds every day of the year, with some exceptions for hurricanes and pandemics (early stages at least). The saving grace is that the crowds hit early and filter out as the day goes on. They key thing...

    Concerns park hopping

I could understand not wanting to go when school was in session (that whole "being a responsible parent" thing). But you may strongly want to consider taking the trip the week before school starts and literally get back home the weekend before it starts with no lead time. Just get all of the...

Figment bucket craze, if this doesn’t tell them something I don’t know what will

I've thought about this too when it comes to waiting at theme parks. Its why paying to skip the line can be great economics if it will allow you to shave off park days and make your vacation shorter. Fewer days on the rental car, airport parking, hotel, and less PTO required. I also thought...

    Concerns park hopping

I used to say that July wasn't really that bad for Disney (comparatively) -- especially considering the longer hours. But since they removed the blackout dates for the summer on the APs (other than the weekends for the Pixie Pass, and the July of July when applicable) I could see it being worse...

Figment bucket craze, if this doesn’t tell them something I don’t know what will

I think that this case is a little different. With social media and how big of a story this is, everybody knows that you're caught dead with this hunk of plastic, you're an idiot who waited in line for 7 hours for it. Or even worse, you supported the secondary market that made it impossible for...

Figment bucket craze, if this doesn’t tell them something I don’t know what will

How could this Idiot Bucket have any market value? If somebody else saw you carting it around, or saw it sitting on your mantle overtop your fireplace, nobody's going to say, "Oh what a cultured person who has lived an exciting life" they're going to say "Oh look, you're an idiot who waited in...

Does the Shoppers Pass still exist

I would be absolutely astonished. There would be nothing stopping you from getting in a stand-by line for a ride. Plus, it may be a little risky anyway, chances are that you might get held up and not be able to get out within an hour -- and what would the consequences be if you get out at the 90...

    Concerns park hopping

I mean, this time of the year you won't have any problems even if you're an AP without any hotel connections. I have the Pixie Pass, and I literally don't see any parks sold out, even for today. Although, I can't speak for weekends, so I'm blacked out those days.
