Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It's subject to quarterly review, so could end sooner if circumstances change, but the Keys apparently have very limited hospital space and the reality of COVID-19 is that it isn't going away anytime soon.

Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

If the company did receive any government funds, the exact amount and terms of repayment will be included in their next quarterly SEC filing. I do not recall any such funds having been included in the three COVID relief bills and can't find any news articles indicating such either, but I could...

I believe tickets expiration dates are changing right now?

My family's Gold (DVC) APs' expirations were extended from January 26th, 2021 to May 23rd, 2021.

News Mobile Dining Check-In comes to My Disney Experience to eliminate podium check-in at restaurants

I think most adults know that it's unwise at best to be that demanding to the waitstaff at any restaurant, even at Disney...

News Disney Springs Begins Phased Reopening on May 20

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/06/multi-award-winning-local-bakery-gideons-bakehouse-to-open-location-at-disney-springs Just in case anyone thinks that Disney believes everything will be back to pre-COVID normal in a couple of months.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

I hope they keep this permanently! Fighting my way through the crowd of clueless guests milling around in front of the check-in desks is one of my least favorite activities at WDW.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Right now, they're not even trying to rack in huge sums of cash. They're just trying to reduce their losses and avoid as much bad press as possible. I'm sure they'll be back to trying to squeeze every penny they can out of park guests again as soon as they're comfortable opening the parks and...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Because COVID-19? The whole setup they're going to be operating under initially is not ideal, for the guests or for Disney. They'll scrap it in favor of whatever they view as the long-term "new normal" paradigm the instant they're able to. In the meantime, doing things vastly differently from...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

It could mean some or all in-park table service restaurants are still available, but only as walk-up reservations once you're already in the park. They can't have a setup that allows for a guest to end up with dining reservations in a park they can't get a park access reservation at, but once a...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The other major cruise lines have dozens of ships and capacity that far outstrips demand. They also don't offer anything terribly compelling to differentiate themselves from each other. DCL, on the other hand. has four ships (with 3 more on the way this decade, assuming they are not delayed or...

News Disney Springs Begins Phased Reopening on May 20

Homecoming and a couple of other 3rd-party restaurants in DS actually never stopped taking reservations through MDE when the rest of the ADRs were disabled on the 28th. Don't read anything into this, nothing has changed.

    Extension to TiW?

It hasn't been cancelled, it just hasn't happened yet. They won't process the extensions until they actually re-open, according to their prior statements. I suspect they're probably also still trying to decide whether to count July 11th as the end date or wait until dining venues are more...

News Eliminating Fastpass and Extra Magic Hours - confirmed as of May 28

There is nothing that they've announced so far that is incompatible with DAS remaining exactly the same as its current form.

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

I wonder what was the overlap between the 16 GMs that voted for a 16-team playoff field and the 16 teams that will be in the 16-team playoff field?

    News New Park Hours...

Yes, they do. And they might be in the parks as well. I'm not even completely sure whether that's the wrong answer, either.

    News New Park Hours...

Supply chain isn't the issue for "walking food", it's whether Disney is willing to sell someone an excuse to walk around the park with their mask down outside of designated areas. People on these boards have outright said they'd buy a popcorn to carry around for the purpose of mask non-compliance.

News Expose reveals WDC control in online fan community

Ehh, I lurked here for around 5 years before creating an account so I could actually post. Doesn't surprise me if others created accounts to lurk with but never had an interest in responding or posting until they got stuck at home for months with nothing better to do with their time than rant...
