    Worth the hype?/Unpopular Opinion

When it comes to Disney I always have to embrace the concept of value rather than price. An $11 dollar beer is a very high price. It may have a good value though if I really enjoy it while walking around the World Showcase. No doubt that much of the food is not on par with elite restaurants...

    Worth the hype?/Unpopular Opinion

We usually only do a big breakfast on our last day or on a resort day in the middle of a longer trip. We are rope droppers and like to hit as many attractions as possible before the crowds peak. A sit down breakfast is a rarity for us.

    AKL or Beach Club???

Yep...if you want to walk to both parks and location is the driver, you can't beat YC/BC. I tend to go back and forth on theming vs location as the driver for each trip....just depends on my mood and the specifics of my plan for the trip.

I tend to skip buffets in general, but especially for breakfast with my kids. My 6/11 year olds can almost split one Mickey Waffle and be done. The buffets are horrible values for them. The one exception is a character meal which I justify as paying for the interaction. We've enjoyed Cape...

    Portofino Bay Memorial Day Weekend

....and so much for that idea:confused:

Best resort for a girls trip?

Lots of good options mentioned above, but I'd also throw out Saratoga Springs. It is a very relaxing resort and has one of Disney's Spas located there. It is also a short boat ride or walk to Disney Springs for evenings out.

    AKL or Beach Club???

I'd only worry about location if you have a very MK-centric trip planned with lots of trips back to your resort during the day. Nobody ever complains about the MK resorts being too remote, but you hear about AKL being too remote all the time. The MK resorts are just as far from the AK park as...

    Worth the hype?/Unpopular Opinion

Some of my overrated judgement is based on the value proposition for the restaurant. I think Boma is vastly overrated. At ~$50 for the meal, the quality isn't there to justify that price point. That leaves quantity, and I am just not that big an eater. I had breakfast at BOG, and I though it...

    Portofino Bay Memorial Day Weekend

Thinking of a Memorial Day trip to Universal. I've only stayed at Cabana Bay, but for a holiday weekend, I definitely want Express Pass included. All of the EP hotels are about the same price, so I am leaning towards Portofino Bay with my 6 and 11 year olds and wife. Is there a good reason to...

Ideas for a new Iconic Deluxe Hotel

I kind of wonder how Disney would have executed Harry Potter. I'm a Disney fan, but I can't imagine they would have done it much better. I don't find much to critique in the Universal concept.

Ideas for a new Iconic Deluxe Hotel

Yep it went from Hotels and Resorts to Imagineering. Can't argue with the decision, but the discussion probably won't be as lively here.

Visiting Universal Studios - how early should I plan?

I won't pretend to be an expert on the Universal Resorts, but I will say you can discount location as a major consideration. Yes, some are slightly more convenient, but the overall area is much more compact than Disney. You can walk to anything there without a whole lot of difficulty. I'd opt...

Visiting Universal Studios - how early should I plan?

Check carefully before purchasing an Express Pass a la cart. The price calendar lists price ranges of $99-$159 per person per day over the new couple of months. The Universal Premier hotels that include express pass for all people staying in a room list for $225-$270 per night for the room on...

Visiting Universal Studios - how early should I plan?

I wouldn't call the Universal Staff poor or unfriendly, but they are overall not as good as the Disney Castmembers IMO. Time to explore depends on a few things: are you trying to do every ride or just the main attractions? Do you have Express Pass? Are you doing Volcano Bay? In general terms...

Visiting Universal Studios - how early should I plan?

I definitely wouldn't say we like Universal better, but we do enjoy the lack of intense planning/spontaneity that Universal allows. It is night and day compared to Disney planning. If you can stay in one of the hotels that includes express pass, that is a huge bonus....we have actually...

AK or DHS after 12 noon?

Pandora is a must-see at night anyway. If you start your day there at noon, it will be easy to occupy yourself in the park until the lights come on there.

McDonald's near to Disney All Star Resort to close for remodel

Walt was kind of a futurist, therefore McDonalds will use the prices of tomorrow at its Disney property:)

    Wilderness Lodge vs. Port Orleans

There is only one reason I would choose POFQ over WL. You mentioned getting two rooms vs one with teenagers in another thread. If you think you will spend little time at the resort, and access to Disney Springs will be prominent features of your trip, you may be better off at POFQ. Those...

    Question on Wilderness Lodge

Thanks for pointing that out. I should be more specific when I provide my perspective or experience to others seeking advice. For me a 15 minute Uber is not a long trip. I try to never tell people seeking advice what to do. I just want to share my experience to help inform their decision...

    Wilderness Lodge vs. Boardwalk

The factors you sited for your decision are really subjective. WL is the hands-down theming decision...BW is not even close. I've found the boat to MK from there to be very convenient and relaxing. For all of the BW resorts, I've found that walking is the better way to get to DHS and EP. The...
