Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Ugh, I'm jealous. We're all night owls, however since I have to be up at 7 to make reservations it would be nice if they were up too so we could rope drop. Instead it usually ends up with me walking around for the next hour or two waiting for everyone else to wake up. However we definitely take...

    Vloggers you like

PC Dev is our favorite. He's extremely honest and doesn't have an annoying over-excited voice like some of the other ones do, plus does alot of other non-Disney theme park/travel stuff too. I used to like Fresh Baked and Adam the Woo, but I don't follow them too closely anymore. Paging Mr...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

It's definitely possible. They can finish pouring the retaining wall and have the track laid by the end of next week if they wanted to. I'd say mid-August is probably a little more realistic for getting the remaining track laid, then another week or two of testing, so I wouldn't say Labor Day...

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

Wow, I'm really out of the loop! Glad you're still paying attention haha. Though there's no reason they couldn't just build a temporary one with ballast just to get across. The fact that they already laid out the rails in the tunnel makes me think they'd want to get the loop closed ASAP

    Is this realistic?

Depending on what day you're going and how empty it is, you may be able to accomplish a few, but not all. In my experience when it's been busy, by the time you get a VQ, Slinky Dog is gone. I would go for SDD first, as those go the fastest out of all, after that if you hurry you should have a...

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

With the roof already in place it would definitely be much too late for clearance tests! Usually with RR structures there's an 'envelope' they design around that's significantly larger than the actual locomotive, so there shouldn't be an issue, atleast in theory. But yeah they would definitely...

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

Don't forget there is a grade crossing infront of Space Mountain to get to the other side of the tracks. They would be able to stage materials and equipment on the other side of the tracks prior to park opening.

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

I'm assuming they're going to wait until they have a complete loop of track first. They finally seem to be making decent progress, so theoretically they could have the track completed by mid August. It's really only about a 350' gap at this point.

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Ha, you know it's been so long since I've been on the RR I completely forgot.

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Very interesting that the rail is already bent and welded, looks like they're going to mount directly into the concrete instead of fill the bed with gravel & lay it down on composite ties.

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

On one of the sites that shall not be named, it looks like the rebar and formwork are being put in for the final part of the retaining wall for the track between the end of the current tunnel and the peoplemover. Hopefully once that is poured they can start relaying the track through there...

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

If my memory is correct this is the first new track in atleast a year, so 20'/yr, 500' gap.. they'll be up and running just intime for the WDW 75th Anniversary!

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Wouldn't the one and only taxpayer in the RCID be Disney, even if it's broken down through different channels? With exception of maybe a few on-property but not Disney-owned hotels?

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Ah ah, yeah that makes sense. I need to stop thinking as a civil engineer sometimes.

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I apologize in advance for not reading all 225 pages, but am I missing something here? I can see Disney just letting them dissolve the district without much of a fight. Disney only seems to be adding an attraction or two every five years. It just seems like all the major construction of theme...

What do you think about the 7DMT?

I loved this ride when I was able to get FPs for it. It's a fun family coaster, but it's just so short that I can't justify a 90+ minute wait for it, nor the LL price. Of course my kids love it so I'll end up caving and buying the LL eventually.

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

It really is incredible, especially considering the consequences if you try to cut corners, a pressure vessel filled with 140psi of scalding steam could explode at a moments notice. The Magic Behind the Steam Trains tour is excellent, but if you want to take it a step further alot of museums...
