Bob Chapek Confirms Disney Will Overhaul Epcot

The "countries" (with the sole exception of Morocco) have never been sponsors of the pavilions. In fact, if I remember correctly, Canada and China didn't even have corporate sponsors when they opened. Just wanted to put that out there.

Disney Parks Blog: 17 Reasons to Visit WDW in 2017

For what it's worth, I bet they'll come up with 20 reasons for 2020 ;)...

Ok, new skin and a new hairstyle.

Bingo. That used to be a common thread through a lot of what Disney developed. Disneyland wasn't developed because of focus group feedback.

It most certainly is a re-skin. So is Hyperspace Mountain. The difference is in degree. One is a more detailed re-skin than the other. For example, if I repaint my car, that's a re-skin. If I repaint the car and also add racing stripes and undercarriage lighting, it's still a re-skin, just a...

Bob Chapek Confirms Disney Will Overhaul Epcot

Has the bar really been lowered that far? The fact that they didn't use screens and actually built animatronics is a shining example of what Imagineers can create? The ride is still the very definition of a re-skin. The bones of the attraction didn't change at all. They still use the exact same...

For the record, the ride before Buzz was Take Flight. It was almost identical to Dreamflight, but had all the Delta references removed (because they were no longer sponsoring it) and very minor lyrical changes to the song. It was only around for a couple years and was so similar to the Delta...

Stitches Great Escape The Laugh Floor? Liquid Nitrogen I assume, but I think that is LN2. The cookies refers to asteroids that used to be projected onto the ceiling.

This is fantastic. While I'm sure we would all love to see that kind of attention to detail and pride in show come from on high, having it return from the ground up is every bit as welcome. Hopefully this great example will spur other areas to follow the lead. It really does make a difference...

    WDW Pictures from the 80's

After some research, I am pretty sure that this was taken in 1986 or 1987 in front of the Prize Winners Redemption Center. This was part of the 15th anniversary promotion and was in the Hospitality House (now known as Exposition Hall).

    WDW Pictures from the 80's

I'm inclined to say MK based upon the architecture. However, you have now set me on a quest to find the exact spot, so I'll be back when I succeed. Also, I now hate you almost as much as my obsessive personality issues :p

I got to do it too and I remember being blown away when I looked down at my hands and they were Mickey gloves.

Also, I believe that this is the same space that housed the Aladdin's Magic Carpet virtual reality thing many years ago.

Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Energy Pavilion at Epcot

Not a bad analysis. I would like to mention that one of the drivers for further exploration and colonization (in my humble opinion and guess) will be more for resources than physical room. This was something that I think Horizons pointed out fairly well. The key to almost all sustained...

Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Energy Pavilion at Epcot

This is a very important point. Without going full-out Nietzsche, it is a very special few who truly advance things on a meaningful level. The masses are generally happy with what they have, until they are given something even better, then that becomes the new standard. Dreams/delusions of...

Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Energy Pavilion at Epcot

While the timeline was obviously off, there is active work to colonize to space and the concept of undersea research facilities is not without merit. I would submit that such visions are not relegated to the past.

That is fair. Sadly, I have to agree with your assessment.

Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Energy Pavilion at Epcot

I will ask yet again, why? Has the present caught up to the future of space colonization, undersea cities, miniaturized medical exploration and treatment? Those were concepts presented 30 years ago and we're still not there. Failure to update the presentation does not negate the possibility of...
