Looking to Crowd Source Some Data Collection

I am trying to put together a chart that shows the Theoretical Hourly Capacity of the Magic Kingdom over the years. Obviously this would be unofficial estimates with low accuracy, but I think it would be interesting. I have done a decent amount of digging, but I'm starting to hit a wall. I...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

Honest question because I don't have the information in front of me, how much of that "doubling" came at the expense of previous utilized land for Birthdayland et al.? If you open unused space and shutter used spaced, it's a trade. Now, if they eventually reopen the now unused closed...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

We've already established that we have no logical common ground for communication. My reference to the Soarin' increase pointed out that it was still a net loss and therefore not an expansion. If you build something in one place and remove something in another, that is replacement, reallocation...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

Sorry, I missed a part in my last post. You can only argue that as an expansion if you don't mind changing the definition of expansion. As an example, if I redo one of the bathrooms in my 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, no matter how pretty and inviting it is, I still can't sell the house as a 3...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

In addition to 20k, Snow White's Scary Adventures was also replaced. The Birthdayland/Toontown was mostly walk throughs, and I grant that an actual ride is an improvement. However, I would probably equate the walk-throughs to Enchanted Tales with Belle. In fact, the Disney Afternoon stage show...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

This has been addressed so many times, but I still see it all the time. Fantasyland was not a significant expansion. For the most part it replaced rides. Replacement is not expansion. Soarin's 3rd bay doesn't even make up for the closure of Wonders of Life, let alone expand the park. Star Wars...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

I think it might be a mixed-up memory (which happens to the best of us). The Space Mountain queue has been functionally the same since its opening in 1975.

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

That was my initial thought, but the very next post goes into detail about Dumbo, so I assumed the first was a reference to Space Mountain.

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

I'm confused, what do over? Space mountain has always had an indoor queue because you have to go under the berm to access the show building. There was never a time when the queue was outdoors, let alone uncovered and exposed to the sun.

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

Not that I don't see the validity in the misery of standing in the August sun, but Space Mountain is a poor example as the queue is indoors aside from the tail end during an abysmally long wait. A better example would have been the original Dumbo with an uncovered queue in a sea of concrete and...

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

Me too. There's no reason not to play by the rules of the game, even if you would prefer that the rules were different.

Attendance drop in the parks... I wonder why

Dear Lord, it might be time to take me because I actually agree with this poster about something ;) I don't agree 100% with his reasoning, but by and large I concur with the sentiment. On the whole, I preferred a Fastpass-less system.

    ImageWorks

Somewhat tangential, but if you ever get the opportunity (unlikely I would imagine) to tour the Altria headquarters building in Richmond, VA, ask to walk through the underground tunnel that connects the main building to the headquarters annex. It's a long tunnel that is ringed with different...

Should monkey wearing a diaper in a baby stroller be allowed in WDW?

Seeing this referenced on a WDW site only makes me think: "I wanna be, your high fiber."

WDW is canceling Jan. 31st reservations at CRT to hold event for more $

Well, 1900 Park Fare is actually just Cinderella and the supporting characters, so not exactly the same. Not that I have any idea as to why it would matter, but just a common denominator between CRT and Akershus.

WDW is canceling Jan. 31st reservations at CRT to hold event for more $

The only other "Princess" meal that I am aware of is Akershus, and they operate the same way. Another similarity between the two is the relatively small size of both venues, especially compared to say, Chef Mickey's. I am wondering if that has something to do with it as well.

    10 years without any wonders

I think it also had to do with the differences when you're sort of stationary. In space, you don't really feel any acceleration unless the ship is moving. Inside the body, you feel a gentle rocking, similar to being on a ship at sea. I would image that rocking had a lot to do with the sick...

[RUMOR] JIIWF to close this fall; ride based on a Disney movie to replace it

Some words shouldn't be allowed in such close proximity. It makes scanning threads quickly more difficult when my eyes hit something like that. :p
