News Disney Not Renewing Great Movie Ride Sponsorship Deal with TCM ; Attraction to Close

This keeps being asserted but I think it is grossly oversimplified. When Disney made Snow White, there was no soundtrack, no existing aesthetic, no existing sets, etc. When Disney released Episode VII, there was an established soundtrack (Yes, John Williams wrote new pieces, but he had already...

News Disney Not Renewing Great Movie Ride Sponsorship Deal with TCM ; Attraction to Close

Honest question: How many of the current creative staff at Pixar were hired before the acquisition?

Do you have any sources that cite loss of legal trademark protection due to selective enforcement? I'm genuinely curious about this.

News Disney considering a service like Uber at WDW - Confirmed as Minnie Van

All true. However, none of it changes the fact that the loss of income to Uber drivers should not be a deciding factor in anything. As you stated in your first post, the ideal outcome would be improved transportation. This would also lead to loss of income. Thus your argument that the main...

    YesterEars Vintage Apparel Collection

Are you sure? I haven't see anything about that on the Maintenance Documents required by the US Patent and Trademark Office. It would seem odd if a holder was forced to take action against every minor infringement in order to maintain legal protection. That would lead to a large number of...

    YesterEars Vintage Apparel Collection

There are a lot of reasons not to buy knockoffs, but this is not one of them. I certainly don't condone copyright infringement but your statement is not the way to argue against it. This kind of argument allows someone to justify the purchase of knock-offs because they are supporting an artist...

News Disney considering a service like Uber at WDW - Confirmed as Minnie Van

I completely agree that WDW transportation needs to be upgraded. The mere fact that there is demand for Uber is evidence that there is room for improvement. However, that would also result in the loss of income to Uber drivers which you state as the primary reason that Disney shouldn't create a...

Former Possible EPCOT Future World/Attractions Remodel

I believe that you are referring to Project Gemini. @marni1971 has posted a lot of information about it previously. Perhaps you can search some of his posts or he can direct you.

I'm not taking a position on the original statement, but your analogy is not congruous. A better analogy would be if your favorite baseball player was unceremoniously cut by his team and the next season that team was selling jerseys with his name on the back.

Why All the Vitriol Against Disney?

Far from it, but I get your point. I suppose I've just been lucky and found some reasonable corners of the net. I mean, I even had a pleasant debate on reddit the other day... reddit!

Why All the Vitriol Against Disney?

One could say that, but it wouldn't be true. One cannot say that creating a new film in an existing film franchise is done in the "same way" as creating a new film based (and sometimes loosely based) upon an old fairy tale. That is what my post was about, hence why I quoted your assertion that...

Steven Tyler No Longer "Loves" That Idea, He Only "Likes" It

True. I think the last time I saw it was within a year of it opening. I was just trying to get the root of the poster's belief that there was a second version that might explain the recent change.

Steven Tyler No Longer "Loves" That Idea, He Only "Likes" It

To my knowledge, the two "versions" are differentiated only by whether there is a live Cast Member ("Chris") getting the guitar at the end or a recorded voice of "Chris". The video is the same either way.

Why All the Vitriol Against Disney?

That's disingenuous. Taking a story and reworking it, creating new characters and then creating visuals, creating songs and a soundtrack is a far cry from purchasing someone else's fully packaged movie library. In the case of the Muppets, Disney purchased the rights to use existing puppets...

Why All the Vitriol Against Disney?

I don't disagree with anything that you said. The satirical cartoon (as most are) is just supposed to be a humorous thought-provoker.

Why All the Vitriol Against Disney?

For decades the Walt Disney Co. was primarily a creative company. Lately they have largely shifted to the acquisition of creativity rather than production of it.

Just to clarify, the contract states that they can relocate it at any time. After 20 years it can be removed entirely.
