News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Splash at least took place in North America, and they took steps to “westernify” it, even if the source material was technically set in Georgia. That’s not the same as a fantastical Land of the Dead, located in a completely different realm that living people (generally) can’t access. That...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

The E ticket doesn’t take place in Mexico, but in the Land of the Dead, so it would be an odd fit for Frontierland. The facade is Ernesto de la Cruz’s mausoleum, which wouldn’t necessarily clash aesthetically, but the ride concept has nothing to do with western expansion. Of course, that alone...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

They are most certainly never adding the Rhine River Cruise. If they ever build something in that show building it would be tied to either Snow White or, more likely, Tangled.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I can’t say for certain that Coco was scrapped from BBT, but that does seem like the most likely possibility. As I showed in a previous post, much of the Coco area originally slated for BBT was copied over to DAK. It’s true that Disney sometimes puts multiple attractions for the same IP in...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Nemo is safe, at least for this first iteration of Tropical Americas. It’s, of course, always possible they could replace it with a new show later on to fit the land (there are many possible IPs they could go with – e.g., Encanto, Coco, Up, ENG). In the meantime, it will be interesting to see...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

I can think of something that is: 💵💵💵 IOW they can, but they almost assuredly won’t, given how expensive the ride system is. There were reports a few years ago that multiple WDW parks were vying for approval to use that system for a new ride (I believe the contenders were Indy in DHS or Jungle...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

I think that ride system would work really well for Moana, but it will probably be saved for an Avatar expansion, assuming that is, in fact, the ride system being used for the Avatar ride at DCA, as widely suspected.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I have not heard from any insider that Coco is coming to DAK, but that does not mean the speculation that it’s coming is baseless. For example, compare these two pieces of concept art. The first is for a section of the BBT project for which Coco was explicitly referenced, and the second for a...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

I wouldn’t mind if they included some blue sky concepts in the panel if it was meant to supplement the concrete plans. The problem in 2022-23 was that “Blue Sky” was all they offered. They were trying to have their cake and eat it too by generating hype for things without making any commitments.

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

Disney isn’t building a new Avatar ride at DCA because they’re trying to keep the parks different (and there are rumors that this same attraction may make its way to DAK too). For better or worse, that’s not something Disney is concerned with. I think they are reserving the FoP ride system for...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

There will be at least 2 Naveens: one in the bayou (Laughing Place) and one at Tiana’s Palace (finale).

That list is definitely not exhaustive. For example, it’s already been confirmed that we will see Naveen in the bayou.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

With something as popular as Frozen, the wait time improvements would have been more likely to have been seen in the other parks than in Epcot itself because FEA likely pulled many families who would have otherwise skipped Epcot to that park. In turn, they may have skipped DHS or DAK instead.

As opposed to something like this: where you have a land just past HM, which you can visit on your way to the other land.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Got it. Yea, I suggested that this would be a possibility, but my concern is that the right arrow represents a long empty pathway. It wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it wouldn’t be great either because it still means getting to that new land is kind of a pain from the right side of the park.

Sorry, I’m not following. Are you suggesting to make a loop that essentially goes around BTMR?

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

It would be very bad for park navigation for them to leave RoA as-is. BTMR is already an inconvenient dead-end. Adding a huge expansion past that without connecting it to Fantasyland or Liberty Square would be a navigational nightmare. And adding a long trek past HM to the new expansion, with...

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

The biggest problem with WDW is not Universal. It’s this: In order to stay fully “current,” any theme park needs to continuously invest in new offerings. Suppose a theme park needs to open one major new attraction every two years on average to maintain its standing. A resort with 2 parks, like...
