News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

If they go the RSR route, I don’t imagine they would call the area “Desertland.” I’d bet “Westernland” (as they use in Tokyo).

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

It feels like Disney is very eager to build Toy Story attractions everywhere except TSL, which they were determined to fill out to the minimum possible degree.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

I agree with your critiques, but I really don’t think money is the issue here. It’s not that they’re leaving things out that should be there, but rather, that they’re trying to do too many things at once. Ultimately, I think it comes down to their obsession with trying to tick every DEI box on...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

I feel like it would be weird to have a ride that actually moves forward themed to a simulator. Generally, you go the other way, where the simulator is used to simulate forward movement (à la ST/MFSR), unless it’s themed to an actual simulator (à la MS)

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Come to think of it, if they’re going to temporarily drain the river in order to shorten it on the other side, they should just replace the boardwalk with a proper pathway from CBJ straight over towards BTMR, with an outlet to the new NOS so the lands could at least feel like distinct entities...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Well thank goodness, because I’m pretty sure the bayou’s wetness and the desert’s dryness would have just canceled each other out, leaving us with Moderate Boring Land

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I don’t necessarily believe this is happening, but I also don’t think it would be so far-fetched for Disney to retheme a land based on western expansion in the U.S. to one just themed to the western U.S. with no ties to any particular time period. I definitely prefer that approach to them...

So is he claiming that the southern half of Frontierland will become New Orleans Square?

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Ever since it became apparent that Coco would be used in Tropical Americas, my money has been on Cars going next to BTMR (though I would have expected them to go full Cars Land rather than just RSR as an extension to Frontierland).

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

I’ve always been a big fan of RnRC, but the recent additions of GotG and Tron have rendered it redundant IMO. I wouldn’t bulldoze it just for the sake of it, but if Disney wanted to go all out with a massive new land, having free access to that large chunk of space would be more valuable than...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

That would definitely be the easiest route, but I would prefer they go in a different direction. The biggest appeals of Carsland in DCA are the breathtaking rock work and RSR, so an indoor show and rethemed indoor coaster wouldn’t provide comparable value. And if they were to add RSR in...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

If Disney wants to do something in Animation Courtyard (and I’m not convinced it’s quite as imminent as some are suggesting), there’s a lot of ways they can go in terms of scale. On one end of the spectrum, they could just replace Launch Bay with something more substantial. On the other, they...

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

No, this is definitely a Disney vs Universal distinction. Most of Uni’s slow-moving dark rides have height requirements (e.g., ET, CitH, MIB, SLOP, Yoshi). None of Disney’s do. This essentially makes visiting Universal a nonstarter for families with young kids. It’s a shame because I’d love to...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

It took me a very long time to parse this post because my brain stubbornly insisted on reading “LL” as “Lightning Lane” every time, which made me assume “bean” was some sort of typo, and I could not for the life of me figure out what you were trying to say. Thankfully it eventually clicked.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

It will not be the same ride. They will certainly borrow some concepts from both existing Indy rides to incorporate into this one, but it will have its own unique story.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

The original Lion King concept from years ago would have included a new ride south of the FotLK show and a LK retail location (presumably an exit gift shop). It would have all been officially part of the Africa land, but would effectively constitute a LK mini land in the sense that there would...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

While there are certainly children who would refuse to step foot in a Villains-themed land, I don’t anticipate it would be anywhere near the majority. In fact, I expect this land would have attractions that would be much more accessible to young children than many other attractions at MK (not to...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

    1. I was also originally unclear on that, but I was personally told by a friend who works in WDAS (and worked on Encanto) that this was meant to be a separate Latin festival-themed land. I’ve definitely since also seen that confirmed elsewhere (maybe even on these boards?) but I can’t remember...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Another option they could go (though I’m not suggesting they will) would be to expand the scope of the villains land to be a general spooky land and include this ride there. Or even keep it as villains land and heavily feature de la Cruz in the ride.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

They have not abandoned the concept. But to my understanding, this part of BBTM was, and still is, slated as a second phase. If they’re going to shorten RoA, this could be quite a number of years away (which also gives them extra time to change their minds). If they keep RoA as is OTOH, they’ll...
