Music played on buses from park to resort

Don't know for sure about the resort bus music, but I know d-cot has the Magical Express music, along with most other music on property. Look under the Wilderness Lodge menu and you'll find the area music for the resort - it could be one of those...

Why does Disney World need building permits

If it isn't a proprietary ride system, it has to be designed by a registered engineer or architect, and meet code requirements just like any commercial building/system to be accessed by the general public - for all the reasons mentioned above. Also, insurance companies need someone to sue if...

New Main Street U.S.A bypass to be built to address entry and exit congestion at the Magic Kingdom

Ride systems are proprietary, so you're not likely to find much in that regard readily available on the internets. The construction documents for a lot of the buildings and other structures (that aren't considered ride systems) on WDW property are submitted for permitting (although the code...

New Main Street U.S.A bypass to be built to address entry and exit congestion at the Magic Kingdom

Have to agree with @Tom, the presence of reinforcement in a concrete pavement doesn't necessarily imply additional capacity. Virtually all pavements are "reinforced" to some extent, particularly in FL, but in most cases the rebar is there to control cracking as the concrete cures, not...

thinking about going durning Thanksgiving... how crazy is it?

We've been twice during the week of Thanksgiving, although not in the last couple of years. If you can get down there the weekend before Thanksgiving, the crowds seemed to be much more manageable then. The closer you get to Thursday and the weekend, the worse they get. Thurs thru Sun will be...

    For DvC renters.... Help needed

See the link for some FAQ's. I'm not up to date on how MM+ has affected everything, but it's my understanding that you can purchase your tickets anywhere and link them to your reservation through the rental agency. We don't use the DP, but I believe the only way to purchase a DP is through the...

    For DvC renters.... Help needed

BCV is probably our favorite so far, although that is partly because we spend more time in Epcot than any other park. We stayed in a studio last June and loved it. You really can't beat the location, although the villas rooms really could use an update there. They aren't bad - just nothing...

Peter's thread of random, interesting, thought-provocative and sometimes entertaining stuff

Disney has already solved the problem of being tied to a track...

    Shades of Green Transportation

We stayed a couple of years ago and the transportation was very regular and much less crowded than regular disney buses, although not as frequent. Just ask the front desk for a bus schedule and allow enough time when going to MK or Epcot to travel via the TTC. I will say the walk to the Poly is...

    WDW Permits 2013

I thought we agreed to keep that on the down-low. :cautious:

    WDW Permits 2013

For what it's worth - I do know that WDW's facilities engineering group has to go through the regular permitting process for all permanent structures that aren't considered ride systems. That's why most of the engineers they hire for that department have to be licensed. The ride systems...

    Dining Plan

The DP has changed a lot since your last trip. Our first trip was back in 2007, and it was substantially cheaper and included more. We avoid the DP these days because it's usually cheaper for us to pay out of pocket.

Either Suites or using one of the DVC point thingys to stay at WDW?

Check out DVC Rental Store as well. Some friends of ours just rented points and compared them with Davids. Apparently, Davids requires that you pay the full cost up front when you book, but these folks will let you pay $8 per point, then pay the rest off by 45 days out. Also, all DVC rentals are...

Has anyone ever had any luck with Lost and Found at the resorts?

I walked away from our camcorder for a minute during our first trip at MK, and it was gone when I came back. We kept checking with the lost and found at MK, but after 2 days it hadn't turned up. Apparently someone had picked it up and turned it in to a CM, because I received a call on our last...

    Accommodations for 5

Art of Animation has family suites, along with All Star Music. You could also look into renting DVC points to get a 1BR or 2BR at any of the DVC resorts. The 1BR DVC rooms generally have a separate bedroom with pullout sofa, and can accommodate 4 adults and 1 child under 3. Some of them only...

    Star Wars Weekends 2014

We went for the first time this past June, on the very last day of event. No one in my family is really a huge SW fan, but we absolutely loved it! We weren't really interested in the autographs or even the rides, but just basically walked around taking pictures of everything, and then watched...

    Which studio to rent.....

BWV hands down. We stayed in a studio at BCV in June and you just cannot beat the location. AKL is fun for the kids, but only worth it if you have a safari view room IMO.

    May -June OR June-July

May-early June will have significantly lighter crowds than June-July, when most schools get out. You couldn't drag me to WDW in July!

    Hasta la Vista Fuego

I'm pretty sure the Sosa Family store on the West Side is to remain open, so you can still buy your obscenely priced cigars (and I'll be right there with you!). Really a shame that Fuego is closing - trying to figure out where I'll be able to enjoy a decent cigar on property now.
