    Tired of these people

Me, too. They give the Disney execs ideas for ways to make another buck. By this time next year, WDW will be charging $1000 for this once in a lifetime experience.

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

No one says it sucks, but it has issues. Pretending it doesn't is part of the reason the parks are in the mess they are in right now. For years, no one could compete with Disney parks, but the gap has closed considerably due to Disney's hubris and other parks stepping up their game. If I had...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

We just spent 5 days at Universal and it was packed! They really did a great job with balancing entertainment and social distancing. Universal hotels are far superior to Disney with a much better price point. We stayed in a two room suite at Endless Summer for less than a regular room at Pop...

Can't find the right tourning plan

Hagrid's is one great coaster! Unfortunately, I tripped this morning as we were heading out and fractured my arm so no smile this morning.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts vs Revenge of the Mummy

Gringott's is probably my favorite ride, but man, Mummy is so good, too! It's like trying to choose between cake and pie. Both are awesome!

Universal Studios: ‘Bourne Stuntacular’ to open in spring of 2020

I agree. We just saw it this week, and I was blown away with how the screens and sets were integrated. I spent most of the show trying to figure out how they did it. We really enjoyed it.

Can't find the right tourning plan

We have been here for 5 days, and it has been crazy busy. Everyone rushed to Hagrid's for early entry, but we have done the opposite. We head to Studios and start hitting the app at around 7:50 am to get in the virtual queue for Hagrid's. We were able to get a time all five days we have been...

How much longer does Shrek 4-D have?

We avoid Shrek and Fast and Furious because they are both physically painful. The Shrek storyline is weird, but my body ached at the end of it.

Universal’s Holiday Experience featuring Macy’s Balloons

We did it this week. It's cute. There were tons of characters and Santa. It was a great place to take pictures. We also did the tree scavenger hunt which was a fun way to spend the afternoon. It was $10, but you get an ornament at the end.

Disney statement on Walt Disney World entertainment

I disagree with this. Yes, they have less parks, but their hotels are way nicer and the experience at Universal is just fun. We visited for the first time last year and really enjoyed not having to plan every minute of our time. I think Universal has a better product than WDW right now, and I...

Disney statement on Walt Disney World entertainment

As far as refunds, when Universal decided to close Volcano Bay, guests who bought 3-park tickets were asked to go to guest services to get a gift card. We bought season passes so they extended them for 2 months (so basically we go a 17 month pass). There are ways to handle it.

Disney statement on Walt Disney World entertainment

Many people in the know have commented that they aren't even hitting their current targets so getting more guests in isn't going to make things unsafe. Plus, entertainment actually spreads the crowds around. When you cancel everything, they are concentrating all the guests in the few rides they...

Disney statement on Walt Disney World entertainment

If you take the pandemic out of the equation, they have been cutting entertainment and raising prices for years. I think everyone understands that layoffs were inevitable this year although I don't think cutting their entertainment staff was smart. It just gives people even less incentive to...

Disney statement on Walt Disney World entertainment

Without the entertainment, the only difference between WDW and other parks is the price. We are planning a trip Universal in November and bought one of the 15 month season passes. Universal may have less offerings, but I don't really mind because the trip is fairly inexpensive. Same with...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Disney leadership supported the very people who have kept them shutdown in CA which puts the blame right back on Disney. As someone mentioned above, Disney is between a rock and a hard place. They haven't lowered prices or offered incentives and have now cut pretty much all entertainment which...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Same here. We bought one of the 15 month passes for Universal for a trip in November. They seem to want my business. Disney is a creative company, but their only solution is to cut, cut, cut. This is a time to be creative. Sure, there would still need to be layoffs, but there have to be ways to...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

I work in HR and have have been involved in terminations and mass layoffs. Of course, the legal aspects need to be covered, but this was a terrible send-off. A letter thanking them for their service with a separate legal notification would have made a lot of difference and would cost them nothing.

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

It's HR 101. When you terminate someone, you do it with as much courtesy and respect as possible. It's not only the right thing to do, but it also helps ease the negativity just a bit. I am sure that many employees were expecting this so they aren't shocked, but now their very last interaction...
