Disneyland and Disney World lay off 28,000 employees amid pandemic struggles - OCR/SCNG

I imagine that a very large portion of the in park cast members are among those numbers, simply because the parks are closed (meaning there aren't jobs for them at the moment at all), and when they reopen they will be at reduced capacity on everything, meaning less workers that are needed- or...

Disneyland and Disney World lay off 28,000 employees amid pandemic struggles - OCR/SCNG

15 years? They aren't going to spend $2-4 Billion dollars, or more, to buy land elsewhere and rebuild the parks. It's scary how many people believed the Uncle Walt's satire site about moving the parks. lol smh

News Disney updates its legendary Four Keys model to include a fifth key

Don't know if anyone is interested or not, but posted a video on my YouTube channel yesterday about this. It's very hard to be able to say everything adequately and clearly sometimes when you're just trying to respond to other posts, but the video allowed me to dig in a bit more and express my...

Disneyland and Disney World lay off 28,000 employees amid pandemic struggles - OCR/SCNG

Lots more calls going out today. And lots of non-union spots seem to be getting wiped out. Photopass now is pretty much not going to exist on both coasts. There are a handful of admins left, and that's about it. So after Dec 4, not sure that there will be a photopass service. There aren't...

Disneyland and Disney World lay off 28,000 employees amid pandemic struggles - OCR/SCNG

Unfortunately the execs in charge of the parks, resorts, and the company do not seem to understand it, and haven't understood it in quite a while. They're from the opposite school of thought- build it as cheap as we can get away with, squeeze every nickel and dime out of the guests, and how...

    News New Parade: Magic Happens

They won't have parades for a bit after they get reopened. As long as covid is a threat to a tight crowd, no fireworks or parades. But when there is a vaccine, and it's been widely distributed, and they feel it's mostly under control, you'll likely see those return as they know those draw...

    Corona Attendance.

I won't be attending, but it's not because of the masks. Time and expense are my real factors. If I had both, then reduced hours, entertainment, etc. would be my real decision makers. Wearing masks doesn't bother me. but I also don't mind waiting until all of this is past and they can start...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Disney is not going to get ride of their theme park division. Not when it's been one of the major profit makers for the company (this year excepted of course) and is so much tied into the core and history of the company.

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Some will. But there are a lot that they will eliminate never to return. The ones that they consider "extras" that don't deliver $$, expect a lot of them to be gone for good.

Disneyland and Disney World lay off 28,000 employees amid pandemic struggles - OCR/SCNG

yeah, I'm seeing several reports and comments from people I know saying that at the very least it's massively reduced, with few left. But several also saying it's gone completely. Can't confirm that for sure, but seeing enough that I'm starting to think it might be true. It's looking very...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

This has a lot to do with it. There won't be character meet and greets for a while. Maybe next year, but possibly not. That's a major source of Photopass photos, and if there won't be those photos, then the package as a whole is less appealing. Not to mention that's a lot of photographers...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

You might think that, but you'd be wrong. :) That's one reason. A major one. The on ride photos are also ones that can't be done on a cell. But the biggest thing that makes Photopass a winner- besides getting everyone in the photo so no one is left out, and besides on ride photos that no...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Reports I'm getting and reading through now- if there is Photopass left in California, it's not much. I've had a few indicate that they think the whole department has been eliminated. I'm unable to confirm that, but it's ugly out there.

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

they haven't cut it completely, but yes, Photopass has taken some hits. On both coasts. It's worse on the West Coast for a couple of reasons. The parks being closed is a big one. But they also don't relaly do individual photo sales anymore. It's part of the package with their Fastpass Max...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

If someone shows up at the turnstiles with tickets in hand, that turnstile person is not likely to be checking if it's in radius or not on a list. And they're even less likely to be turning someone away if it isn't. Tickets would be sold online, and it's not hard at all to get around location...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

I'll believe it when I see it come from the Gov. office itself. Otherwise it's just another one to add to all of the false rumors so far that have said he or Disneyland were announcing something. Not to be the downer, just trying to be realistic, as this wouldn't gel with everything else he's...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

These are the kinds of cuts that I imagine (hope) are temporary because of what happens. Even if the parks reopen, it's likely those shows would not because of spacing and covid restrictions. It's hard to say when Disney might be able to have theater shows in the CA parks again. But there...

News Disney updates its legendary Four Keys model to include a fifth key

This is a matter of cultural relevance. Are we at a time where we need to start changing how we address people? Maybe I'm just odd, but I can usually get a pretty good feel pretty quickly with people when to use sir, ma'am, or something gender neutral if I'm not sure. And again, isn't that...
