News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

No. The fans have wasted a lot of time thinking about it and trying to to make it fit into "rules" only they understand. The truth is: no one really cares about it. Not even going back to Walt. Looking at the river specifically the Columbia and Mark Twain, both added by Walt were chronologically...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Did I say it fits Frontierland? I've been pretty clear that the "rules" are Disney's to change. Huh...

But then what would replace the river in Magic Kingdom? Maybe it shouldn't? That's what Disney is trying to solve for. They want a new theme for Frontierland. They should consider just changing the name to something else so the fans will be happy.

I was referring to the radical Disney fans. No normal person is going to turn down going to WDW because it doesn't have a river.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Not sure if it had been posted before but this was a pretty interesting video: I had mentioned that travel had become cheaper and experiences were more accessible as a reason why far-off-distant-locales as theme park themes was on the outs recently, but this actually adds a new perspective...

Moving the goalposts? Is this the qualification for excess here now? Having an entire land based on one IP? Is that what we're going to litigate against today? What a crime.

They are not. Theme parks have to make money to justify their existence. Theme parks make money by making people happy. You can't ignore that when tonal changes have occurred in the parks in the past, they have largely been successful and made Disney lots of money. It really calls into...

Moderation? Walt put the Mike Fink Keelboats in Disneyland, to advertise the TV show, which was based on Disneyland. There has never been moderation.

For all the people saying it doesn't fit into Frontierland... what do you think was the final verdict on Cars fitting into California Adventure? I remember people being quite vocal that it didn't fit since most of the movie takes place in Utah/Arizona. Or what about the final verdict on...

Well people stopped talking about the river some time ago... probably because they've made their peace with it and moved on to acceptance. There wasn't ever going to be this big upswell of support for keeping it. Disney knows what people like and the river just ain't it.

Ok so just extend this logic a little bit: they are going to lovingly craft a tribute to the wilderness of the American west, and add Cars characters as a bit of flavor. Sure to be a home run!
