Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Yes, as a statement of fact, spending more doesn't mean buying more things. In this case though the operating income isn't scaling with the increase in revenue, meaning they spent more money operating the parks in the last quarter. That's the reality of the situation: they are spending more...

I thought it was posted earlier here that attendance for the year is still up? Makes sense that some times would be busier if other times are lean.

To do what? Improve shareholder value or improve customer value? Revenue being up, and OI being down is a sign that they are spending MORE on the parks product, and you think that's a bad thing? Pick a lane already. Entirely possible. If the country (or the world) enters a recession, things...

So... you're advocating for cost cutting? It's all those awful labor unions and their agreements cutting into profits? All that park maintenance? What do you want to cut. Revenue increasing is still showing strong demand. Even as that demand slows a bit, it's still way above what they were...

Meh. Revenue was up, they are still spending money and the sky didn't fall. Better luck next time guys...

Attendance doesn't really matter. It's not something the investors are worried about.

At this point I'm just comparing WDW to DLR. DLR has always charged for resort parking, and never had free transportation to the resort. Somehow removing these things has somehow destroyed the WDW experience but the other parks are just fine?

Why do these things seem to only negatively impact WDW? Every other park in the world is immune to the changes?

Well... there was no Magical Express back then, and the park was about half as crowded then as it was in 2019. So we're almost there...

Actual Investors: Then there were Comcast’s poor theme park results, reported after the market closed on Tuesday. Comcast—the parent of Universal Studios theme park—said that second-quarter parks revenue decreased by 11% from the prior year as fewer people visited. At first glance...

They kept pricing low because they were chasing a volume business. Cram as many people in as possible and if you can't fill it, sell discount annual passes and keep filling it. Attendance gains and records in the last half of the 2010s were due to pricing strategy. Unless someone honestly...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Revenue isn't at some point where it's trying to maintain stability: it's literally the highest it has ever been for the parks division. They keep raising prices and it keeps paying off for them. There is a point here in this argument where the bias really shows through: to believe that they...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Take it up with Iger. He basically said as much. When attendance goes down, people spend more money in the park. That's a fact. Nevermind the fact that they have raised prices twice since this thread was started. So even after the fans noticed attendance declining, they continued to increase...

Of course I do, because it is the truth. And who exactly controls the prices? You are right though, the heat has played a part too.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Attendance went down due to increases in ticket prices and adjustments to the way APs work. They took actions to limit attendance. Attendance isn't all that important. It needs to stop be used as a metric of success or failure.

Oh ... are we back to tracking the stock price? Probably a reaction to the (mostly eclipsed) news that DLR CMs are authorizing a strike in their labor negotiations. That's definitely going to put downward pressure on profits, should the union secure a better deal. Any of the stock watchers...

Attendance sinking on the West Coast too?

Not at all lesser. It's a shame you see it that way.

In this context, it is the reported earnings for what is now Disney Experiences, which includes the theme parks, resorts, cruise line and for some reason consumer products.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

You're kind of right. Iger admitted that they make more money when the parks are less busy. In the end this *IS* about extracting more money from their guests, and their revenue reports over the last six quarters shows significant gains. If this were some unintended precipitous fall in...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

You got it backwards. The lower attendance is caused by their higher prices. They are doing it purposefully. Which is why, and I know this is confusing for some, they haven't lowered prices back.
