News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

A little of both I'm assuming and Synergies can be both. I'm also assuming the output of Fox2000 will be split between 20CF (21CF was the parent company, not the studio name) and Fox Searchlight, so I'm thinking there really isn't a long term revenue loss.

    A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

Well said. Personally I enjoy these forums more without all of the drama that came from folks either idolizing or condemning him

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

You are correct. Normally in these merger scenarios the big costs savings come down to real estate, duplicate systems and maintenance contracts. Only where people overlap in leadership positions do you really have major people savings. I wonder how much was saved just by shutting down Fox...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

The breathless was the entertainment press is fauning over these separations is ridiculous. Those announced today are not surprises to those impacted. They have likely know for weeks/months, and may have been offered new positions that they rejected. The entertainment press obviously has...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

Keep in mind that these folks may have chosen to not accept new roles. Not every loss that comes up will be because Disney wanted to get rid of talent.

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I hope within the next couple of weeks they start to announce talent deals to keep some of these Fox creators in the fold. It would be a strong opening move to show they can keep the best of Fox’s more creator driven culture.

Rumor Version of MaxPass coming to WDW in May?

Unfortunately folks will find ways to game any system. Nothing is 100% fool proof. I do think there is a market for a 100% planned option as well. I realize @marni1971 has indicated that the future here is probably 'package' based and incremental FP+, but I would be game for a solution that...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

While I understand the point, I don't think Pixar and WDAS can expand much without losing their effectiveness. Having a third production house makes sense, especially if they can go toe to toe with Illumination on a cost basis. I would prefer WDAS and Pixar to focus in on 1 production a year...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I think they should keep Endemol. Disney def needs more reality TV assets.

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

Fox let this studio languish when they had distribution for DreamWorks. But I hope Disney keeps it and uses it to take some pressure off Pixar and WDAS to create original IPs for both D+ and Theatrical. DisneyToon never really had the freedom to create original IP.

My understanding is that the Alvin rights are complicated.

Epic, Rio, Robots, Charlie Brown...solid but not big hits. One film every two years pretty consistently.

If Roseanne hadn’t done a lot of additional crazy afterwards, I honestly think they would have worked something out.

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

For the next few months. We will see lots of organizational announcements, talent deals / departures, some lay offs and a lot of focus on Streaming Services. There is a rumor mill that Sunday Ticket may not be secured as long as everyone thought at DirecTV, wouldn’t be surprised if we see...

LOL...EA is the company everyone loves to hate at the moment.

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

That would be a big deal. Take Two makes a lot of money but a video game version of Fox-Disney would be like Sony buying Ubisoft or EA. Also I don't think anyone thought that Sony was going to sell their Video Game business any time soon, the question is really about the Movie and TV studios.

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I doubt it. Star India is super popular and profitable. I would expect Disney to have a soft touch there, since Star India was the bigger more profitable operation of the two. I wouldn't be surprised to see Disney offer the Star India streaming service to US based customers though (if it...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

This is super-helpful. I couldn't figure out where this contract was to go back and read. The Variety article, when I re-read it, seemed to imply they were working on TV shows that were in the Spider-Man universe of characters(sorry Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters), but not Spider-Man...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

What I don’t get. Is that not that long ago, Sony lost any TV rights to the spider-man IP. I’m assuming the MCU deal gave some of that back? Or maybe. Marvel is approving and endorsing this?

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

We discussed this dynamic a few months agoin this thread. The assets being spun off with A&E networks are small and have minimal impact on revenue. I wouldn’t assume any changes to the broader A&E structure in the near term. Those US assets still make plenty of money.
