News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

A tiny patch of grass does not require a rock star/dictator Imagineer. It’s sad that WDI/Disney has lowered our expectations this far.

100%. WDI leadership in 2024 is afraid to say "no." Baxter, Rohde, etc. were willing to fight these battles.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Ideally the artificial beignet scent will overpower that nasty water smell. I know I won’t be able to resist a Strawberry Pie-filled Beignet (only $4.99) at Tiana’s Palace after every ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! And hopefully Disney removes those pesky drops one day. Go to Magic Mountain...

Ahhh okay, this is the part my brain was not comprehending. Thanks so much!

I love to see attractions getting TLC (especially after the neglect of the covid era), but yeah it’s putting a lot of pressure on the rest of the park. Pooh had a 40 minute wait last Saturday! That’s 8 times its typical wait! Let’s hope so!

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Haha, thank you. There simply haven’t been any actual developments in the last month; I think we’re all just waiting for this thing to open, hoping WDI makes at least some minor edits to the Disneyland version. Overseas travel tends to remind one that Disneyland may not actually be worth all...

Thanks! It’s a little confusing on the app but it seems like MAD actually does have its own LL at this point, which hopefully makes it a little easier to actually get on the ride (without waiting an eternity in line).

Thank you! I guess it’s simply a matter of being at DLR around the time of the (surprisingly early) 3pm switch and then checking LL return times on the app. I’ve casually glanced at the app on evenings when I’ve not been at the park and it seems like MAD is perennially out of LLs, but presumably...

News Space Mountain and Disneyland Railroad closing for refurbishment in early August 2024

Aw really? The lights were fully functional (and looked damn good) on my ride yesterday. Let’s hope they’re not hit-or-miss already, yikes.

Anyone have any tips for getting on Monsters After Dark? I’ve never experienced it and I’d love to avoid a 100+ minute wait. Am I correct that it has its own Lightning Lane, distinct from regular Mission: Breakout? Is there an ideal time to grab a LL for it?

One other note (I know this was discussed 2 weeks ago, but whatever) — the lighting has indeed been tweaked in the queue, and it’s an improvement. Feels more sophisticated; less Buzz Lightyear.

News Space Mountain and Disneyland Railroad closing for refurbishment in early August 2024

Wow! Space Mountain is in great shape. The functional lights really bolster the experience dramatically. Not sure if I was imagining this, but seemed like the soundtrack volume was cranked up way louder than usual (which was fantastic). Sat in the front row; it was a perfect experience.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

This is so disappointing. And it makes no sense. Why build an impressive structure just to obstruct the sightline? Does anyone at WDI actually enjoy Disney theme parks?

I stand corrected. I didn’t think of the patty melt (I somehow missed your post) at Carnation — it’s not bad. And my burger at Black Tap was excellent, despite the questionable vibe in the outdoor seating area. More accurately, I’ll say this: I’ve never had a decent quick-service burger at the...

I swear, I’ve never had a decent burger at the Disneyland Resort. Downtown Disney needs an In-n-Out Burger! I know you’re reading this, Disney! Make it happen!

I’m just saying, it’s a frightening sight. The park would be incalculably diminished without the railroad. Your map is well done.

The absence of the Disneyland Railroad is very upsetting. On the other hand, if the carousel theater in Tomorrowland were actually replaced with a patch of grass, I’d be all for it.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

WDI is lost. I’d argue plants/trees are different than a building. The plants/trees didn’t prevent the mansion from being the visual focal point when walking in this direction.

Ordinary people know the term, they just don’t use it. It exists more in the realms of corporate-speak or movie dorks. I agree with the original post that the CityWalk ad referring to the “Jurassic World franchise” is somewhat unusual.

    New Awful Security Screening Process

Searching through wallets is unacceptable. At some point we all have to accept that we live in a dangerous world filled with potentially dangerous other people. Leave little Timmy’s retainer case alone, my god.
