MMRR is Toontown’s version of the El Capitan in Hollywood, which is directly across the street from the Chinese Theatre. So essentially, the east coast and west coast versions of the ride face each other in reality. I think that’s pretty clever.

Understanding the historical relevance of surrealism in Mexico should help to understand that the theming of the resort is not a stretch, not out of place, and not an effort by Disney imagineers to “fool” tourists. But I get it, facts can be stubborn.

The FL mansion queue is one of the best in either park. It sets the scene for the experience to come a bit more so than in CA (both are enjoyable). Just celebrate the differences and move on.

You’ve clearly never been to Florida if you think that it’s nothing but swamps. Ironically, Disney seems to be doubling down on the Florida element these days rather than its previous obsession with California (see Disney Springs, for instance).

If I recall, Walt Disney found swamps compelling enough to include them on an original attraction at DL.

Disney MGM Studios was always a much better nod to California than DCA ever was. It’s remnants are still so.
