News Test Track to be reimagined

Funny how the outdoor bullseye on the app is still the original 1.0 design from 2011.

News Test Track to be reimagined

Since this project is starting in less than a week, I'd imagine whatever concept art released at D23 is going to be pretty darn close to the final product. I wonder how much in terms of detail will actually be dropped.

News Test Track to be reimagined

What are the odds GM gets a temporary lounge space during the refurb?? My guess would be the SSE lounge.

News Test Track to be reimagined

Could parts of the ride be slowed down or possibly retracked to accommodate more detailed scenes? My mind goes to the capability/brake check portion of the ride. I assume it's technically possible but would they actually do it?

News Test Track to be reimagined

Any building built before the late 90's (let's say 1996) most likely has some about of asbestos in it, so the likelihood communicore had asbestos in it is high. As for the surviving side, they probably removed it all when they gutted the building.

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Wow. After all these years and all the construction, we basically have the same southwest building as before with a bunch of trees strewn about randomly. At this point I'd rather have what was there in 2018 with some trees instead of the tarps. The fact we'll be stuck with this for the next 20...

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Maybe, but it's most likely just for maintenance instead of new construction.

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

The Joy M&G in the ImageWorks is now permanently closed per that other site. Another sign JIIWF's days may finally be numbered? Also, can anybody confirm this to be the case?

    Permits 2024

Yep. Probably just general maintenance, which I am all for. I still find it weird that would take more than a year though.

    Permits 2024

That would make the most sense. I scrolled through the contractor's website, and the last WDW thing they have photos of was the Pioneer Hall interior remodel at Fort Wilderness. That was only 4 months of work though. November '25 is a long time to be remodeling the upstairs.

    Permits 2024

I'd still doubt that, but considering this permit is longer than a year (and longer than the Test Track one for its redo), then I'd consider it possible.

    Permits 2024

Any ideas as to what this could be? I'm surprised they've got a specific date on this permit.

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Took them long enough, but at least they finally see the potential. 🙂 Now it really is more a matter of when than if it will happen.

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

We're not talking about that. The millennium hub was messy and missing trees. THIS is what we're talking about: Clean, orderly pathways with plenty of green space, trees, and a kinetic water feature that functionally make sense with the surrounding architecture. I don't understand why this...

Oh, thank goodness. Happy to be wrong. 🙂

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

OK that makes sense. Construction photos show the show building being constructed around/over the turntable so a redo would most likely involve at least taking the roof/image works off. Or, to put it simply, the turntable is epcot's version of the everest yeti.

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I don't see why they couldn't gut the remains of the turntable and simply build a new one in its place. The walls and 40ish% of the track are there unless it was built before the building was fully enclosed during original construction. If not that, then maybe gut the entire turntable part of...

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Just slapping dreamfinder onto the current ride would be extremely cheap. The pavilion needs more than a simple rebrand. At least reinstall the missing 40% of the track.

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

It would be just fine if it matched the surrounding architecture. Unfortunately, it does not, so it's sticking out like a sore thumb. I guarantee people will consider this structure ugly and outdated after 5-10 years.
