I figured they would modify their plans for Fantastic Beasts now that the future of that series is in question (I didn't see them but I heard there was supposed to be five movies but the third one bombed).
I'm guessing Zelda would replace what remains of the Lost Continent.
Regardless of the quality of Encanto, Disney Plus is likely making it so people don't bother seeing their animated movies in theaters. It's like, why pay for an expensive movie ticket (and that adds up for families) when you can just wait about one month and watch it at no extra cost at home...
As annoying as it is for us, from a business point of view they would always want to keep expansion areas around just in case there's a new hit IP one day or maybe somehow they will finally get the Marvel theme park rights back from Universal years/decades down the line.
I get what you mean. You will often see characters on tv shows making references to characters, quotes, concepts, etc to Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc even when when said tv shows are owned by a rival company but the same isn't true for Avatar. Now this doesn't mean that Avatar...
Maybe. Or perhaps in another 20 some years there would be nostalgia for the long lost Splash Mountain they can market to (of course without the "Splash Mountain" name).
Yeah, the scene of him being tied off is taken from the next story (the one where the laughing place song comes from). They combined the two to have the exciting briar patch climax.
Good question. Is it easier or are they just willing to make an exception for Pirates because it's that popular (and the IP isn't one they want gone from the parks)?
And likely also to lower maintence cost as others have said in these topics. So that's why I'm not getting my hopes up that even the American Sings characters would be kept. This new ride would likely be more about screens rather then sets, props, and animatronics.
Unfortunately it will be the latter. It's just going to take a long time until they erase every trace of these characters from the resort since they were all over the place.
Yeah, some of this stuff can happen eventually in some form. Just look at what is happening with Epcot now. Some of these concepts date back to 2003 with "Project Gemini".
I saw a video on that the other day from someone that was apparently riding on the log behind them (I haven't clicked the link so maybe that is the source). Unfortunately since it was headphones we couldn't hear what they were listening to and there was enough distance that you couldn't make out...
That was certainly an odd thing to reference. Looking it up, here's the story.

One of the weirder parts of this whole thing for me that is they are trying to dress up the whole thing as more friendly (apparently the lift hill will also be cheery as well) but... well they are still dropping you. The tone of these things feels off.
Yeah, if you just want the thrill of the drop there's plenty of other flume rides that drop you from higher places. You don't even have to go far for that. Both of the competition that tweeted (Journey to Atlantis at Sea World and Dudley Do Right at Islands of Adventure) have taller drops.
20k also remained filled with water and used as "decoration" for a decade before they demolished it to make a Winnie the Pooh playground (which itself was demolished for the Fantasyland expansion). I remember being annoyed when they announced that Nemo ride knowing it could have been done with...
