Staying at Swan/Dolphin & Using Boardwalk Bus to MK?

One thing I have noticed is that the price of the Dolphin/Swan tends to be higher now on EME nights. Meanwhile, WDW hotel prices tend to be higher on the weekends. On any given week though, Disney has pricing seasons. A stay that is split across two calendar weeks might have to pricing...

Staying at Swan/Dolphin & Using Boardwalk Bus to MK?

The current AAA refundable price of Swan- Easter night (4/9) is $346 with tax and fees included). For those without AAA or Bonvoy, the FULL rack rate= $398. The least expensive Disney Deluxe hotel room (current discount) is a parking-lot view room at AKL. For 4/9 it is $675. If one wants a...

Darkness of rides worse than before. Covering up bad show or 'energy saving'?

1A. Back in 2016, HM had a refurbishment. At that time, the graveyard ghosts were repainted, so it has been 7 years since they were repainted. If you saw them when the paint was fresh, they would have appeared brighter than they currently are. 1B. TTA- Others have commented, but Space Mtn was...

I remember those bulbs! As a kid, that is what our holiday bulbs looked like, except yellow. Only things is, in those days the strands were the kind where if one bulb went out, the whole strand went out, and people replaced only the burnt-out bulb. Every year, it took quite a while to...

thanks! Plants are always a bit of hit or miss. Though it would probably help if I more closely followed the specific directions. I recently talked to a local specialist though, and nobody has 100% success with plants. When they thrive, they can be amazingly resilient.

    Old Magic Bands

It is my understanding that - when using an old band- you can still obtain most of the ride photos if you so desire by tapping the band to the station at the end of the ride. Another option is to link your phone via Magic Mobile. (plus still use the old band). In some cases it is also an...

    Buffets: Good or Bad?

WDW has an amazing chef who usually goes by, "Chef TJ." (TJ Sudiswa). We met him a long time ago when he worked at Boma, and he worked there for quite a few years. Since then though he has kinda been all over WDW. I know he has worked at Poly, GF, WL and BC/YC. You might have met him if you...

This is a bloom from the crazy orchid, though it only shows the blooms and the top of the window.

Wow! Some of my favorites are the little jarred plants they sell in the Land. I don't really have a photo though because at present we only have 1 and it is suddenly not doing very well. I'm not sure why. We didn't open the jar and it was in the same location as many others before it: light...

    Buffets: Good or Bad?

We used to really like a few (non WDW) hotels that had breakfast buffets included, and the buffets all had omelet stations with impressive chefs cooking the omelets. I applaud anyone who can masterfully cook 3 omelets at the same time. I'm hoping to return to one of those hotels later this year.

    Buffets: Good or Bad?

Admittedly, there are a few buffets we enjoy in Orlando. We often stay at hotels that include breakfast. While the food isn't often all that exciting, the time savings is often very helpful.

    Buffets: Good or Bad?

Depends. Most buffets have a high % of cheap-filler-foods. Foods that tend to be unhealthy, high carb, high fat, high salt/sugar, and inexpensive to make. Filler foods include foods like pasta (mac n cheese), hot dogs/sausages, breads, bread pudding, biscuits, potato, jello, croutons, When...

    Capacity and capacity

To some extent it might be...January. A lower crowd time of year. That said, I visited WDW a few weeks ago. We saw an odd mix sometimes in the opposite direction. Pirates was empty. It was so empty that entire boats ahead of us left the dock completely empty; nevertheless, groups of 4 adults...

    Has anyone noticed?

I'm not reading all rainbows and sunshine myself. It might partly be the threads you are choosing to read, though I agree with above poster that the change is leadership is a factor. We've also seen a few small positive changes, like ending the hotel parking fee. WDW also announced that -...

What do people dislike about Enchantment?

Though I think it was well past time to replace Illuminations, it was a great show and a tough act to replace. IMO, Harmonious fell flat, in part, because it is just random songs strung together. It lacks cohesion. enchantment has the same major defect. My second concern is that Illuminations...

Riding attractions with older family members

To a large extent, this is a personal question only they can answer. (One of my favorite WDW memories was seeing an older couple wearing matching Space Mtn jackets, excitedly riding Space Mtn late one night.) While GoG is very smooth, it is a mild coaster, and it has some speed to it. My...

Recommendation for quiet onsite resort room...but not too far from things?

For us, Port Orleans Riverside is probably my least favorite WDW hotel. Granted, it has been some years since we stayed there, but our stays there all had some odd, unusual problem. I don't think they are typical of the POR or other WDW hotels in general, just bad luck.

How to overcome not being a rides person?

    1. I think watching ride videos is a big mistake. I lament that they exist. IMO, the fun of WDW is the discovery. I don't say that to be dismissive, but I think they tend to give a false impression of many rides. I started going to WDW long before the internet, so they didn't exist. (Though...

Recommendation for quiet onsite resort room...but not too far from things?

We had our own car when we stayed there. I am happy to report we had good luck with being able to park close to the hotel, but maybe we got lucky.

Recommendation for quiet onsite resort room...but not too far from things?

Generally, you should be able to request a quieter room location. This will tend to be one that is further away from everything, like a room at the far end of the hallway on the upper floor. Of course there is no guarantee at any hotel that you will have quiet neighbors, no matter where your...
