News "World of Color – One" coming to Disney California Adventure

Guess I’ll be prioritizing the fireworks.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

Oh I thought the general consensus was that Smugglers Run and Star Tours were D tickets. So ROTR and Star Tours are both E tickets? Something seems wrong with that.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

I’m leaning E on scope/scale alone. But D ticket in E tickets clothing might be good description. If we’re still calling TSMM, Webslingers, Smugglers Run and Star Tours D tickets then MMRR has to be an E. I’ll be there tomorrow so I’ll report back Friday night or Saturday… if/when I get a...

Walt Disney Company 100 at [Cabochon] Disneyland

Much better than the Cheesy Mickey that’s been on there.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

If I don’t get an MMRR boarding group Disney won’t ding me if I don’t show up for my reservation right? ;)

News Disneyland Magic Key (Inspire and Believe Magic Keys available)

Yeah it’s fun. Scanned my tickets into my uncles app once because my phone was dying. Until this day I get text messages saying “go pick up your mint julep” or “how was that Bengal BBQ?”

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

Lol I was the same most of my life but it’s been growing on me and they don’t put too much. I’d say sub for goat cheese.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

You would like this salad I’ve been getting from Gus’s BBQ in Porter Ranch minus the blue cheese crumbles… mixed greens, blue cheese crumbles, candied peanuts, cornbread croutons, louisiana peanut dressing. The dressing is vinegar based. The croutons are great. Are slightly crispy but also have...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

You make a good argument but I disagree. I’ll be honest JC isn’t in my Top 10 at DL but I don’t think it’s too far off from the signature essence of Disneyland. So POTC is indoors and they can obviously do more with that but the scope isn’t too far off, scale is on par and they built a freakin...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

A lot of good points but Disneyland knew what it was on opening day. It just got better at executing. Jungle Cruise was the best attraction on opening day and the template for all the E tickets to come. Considering what thesis means and being that it still exists today, I have to give it the nod...

That’s a great explanation. That’s why I went with Jungle as they didn’t have a visual weenie that also offers a compelling explanation of what the spirit of the park is about. The castle was an icon with no attraction. The train as much as it symbolizes is a transportation ride and I don’t...

The question to ask is if Jungle Cruise didn’t exist would we even have a Pirates? Maybe, maybe not.

Another good choice. I’d say Jungle Cruise, POTC, and IASW are probably the top 3. Mansion by default can’t be considered since POTC came first and covers the same bases while arguably doing it better. IASW just doesn’t cut it when it comes to quality of show.

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

I’ll admit Pirates was the first ride that came to my mind before I wrote my post but as I thought through what a thesis attraction means I ultimately had to go with Jungle Cruise. I think the only way you can choose a ride that was built 12 years after the park opened as a thesis attraction is...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

The term “thesis attraction” has come up a couple times the last few days. It got me thinking, what’s Disneyland’s thesis attraction? It has to be Jungle Cruise right? It was there on opening day, had the greatest scope/ scale and showed the greatest commitment to theme. A case can be made for...

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway SPOILER Thread

That’s rough but it’s all how you frame it. For example WDW got to keep TOT and got a new purpose built Guardians coaster. We got TOT replaced with a Guardians retheme. No coaster.

    News Reimagined Toontown coming

Yeah that’s the vibe it’s giving me. I didn’t have any particular affinity for that area and this is coming from a huge Who Framed Roger Rabbit fan. Lot of concrete. Sucks to lose a water feature but there will be a nice fountain just what? 50 feet away? I think Roger might get a little bump...

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

I’m loving the mid century modern aesthetic in the theatre portion of the queue. Splash will always be the happiest ride in DL as long as it’s running but MMRR might have a shot at the title after Splash closes.
