Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

And that's the plan! You found it! They are trying to make Epcot the same but different than MK. That is what draws people in and MK needs some relief right now. What you seem to see as negative, I see as trying to compromise and make it something for everyone with fun fantasy things to see or...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

The part that everyone is missing is that they were trying to find some way to breath life into a dead Pavilion. It wasn't about matching anything. What it was, however is what saved the pavilion and brought people into the general park. It was the thing that closest fit the general vibe of...

Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

There were a number of things, auto wise, that I have seen advance. In no particular order... Radial Tires, power steering, fuel injection, power windows, Windshield wipers that actually pressed against the glass, remote start, no need to change the oil every 3K, no need for spark plugs and...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

It is still a fanasy story made up for entertainment and no other message other then personal things. Therefore, use whatever name anybody wants it is still the same thing. A creation of imagination, with maybe a resemblance of another I.P. years ago but can be anywhere that it's cold and it...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

Let me briefly explain how I feel about that. First Maelstrom was not great, it was boring and left me with the impression that Norway was nothing more then Polar Bears and Oil Rigs. There was nothing, not a thing, that said to me... "hey, I'll bet Norway would be a great place to visit". So...

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

It might make for a little leverage to make it contingent of backing off the rhetoric and threats.

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

You know I always felt the same way and it ruined what was once my favorite park. What I did was finally acknowledge that the EPCOT I remember from the 80's is no longer. The mission and purpose has officially changed. It did that when they stopped capitalizing the name. It took me a few years...

What ride going away would bother you the most

That is a little complicated... most of my all time favorites are gone already. Things like 20K leagues, Splash Mtn., The Timekeeper, World of Motion, The original Imagination and a few others that go back to far for me to remember the name, but I can visualize them. Right now, because I think...

I see you have a specific taste in music. I go to the France Pavilion to listen to the music in connection with the images on the screen. Believe me I am not an avid fan of the more Classical leaning music in general but, the selection for that movie is something that I can listen to and never...

I agree! I've been a lot of places in my life and got to the point were everyplace looks the same to me only in a different place. Because of that I have thought that a Panama Canal Cruise would be something I have never seen duplicated anywhere. Now I'm torn... Thanks to that report I now know...

Which is pretty much the same as I am saying except for one thing. Disney had gotten used to getting these countries to pay for the construction and operation of those pavilions. The problem? By that time things were changing and the demand for such a huge promotional expense was fading fast...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

It makes sense but they built the place expecting a lot of people and, naturally got them for a while after opening, but it was supposed to remain popular enough to need that massive ability to take care of the crowd. The crowd that started to slow about 5 years in and slowly cut down to what...

Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

If tenured, the salaries are based on the year and back when I did payroll for a school system in Vermont the yearly pay equaled or came close to what others were making working for 12 months. Technically they were not getting paid during the time they were off in the summer, but basically paid...

Really? You have those giant screens projecting 3D images at home. How much do teachers get paid these days? ;)

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

The first few years of Epcot's existence there were crowded lines and each attraction had massive switchback facilities that were always full. Imagination, World of Motion, Horizons and Spaceship Earth all had full queue lines no matter what time of day you went there. Even Universe of energy...

The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

Well back during the ice age, if you stocked shelves in a store the procedure was to move all the old stuff to the front so that it could be sold first (officially known as stock rotation). However, I have been observing today's employees cannot be bothered by such a thing so they just put the...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

Actually, I could have been listed as a Pixie Duster from the moment I entered the property in 1983 until about 2018. To me it wasn't so much the content of the parks but the way we were looked at by management. I never had a problem with changing things when they got stale, but to just stop...

Yes, but like I said that perception of IP's is what we think is the way it should be. I doubt that most newcomers to WDW have any feelings at all about IP's. To them it is just a form of entertainment.
