Journey of Water featuring Moana coming to Epcot

They specified World Celebration as wrapping up in late 23. They didn’t specifically say when Moana would open up. However, they did show it separately on the timeline from World Celebration. Again, I have no insider info. I’m just using my background in design and construction and...

Journey of Water featuring Moana coming to Epcot

I already said I don’t think they would open the portion where the Walt Statue will be in that phase. The green area would just be pavement and landscape beds. Based on that underlying plan, the Walt Statue and steps appear to be just south, in the northern most part of the red area.

Journey of Water featuring Moana coming to Epcot

The gardens can be screened off as needed. See what's currently going on with SSE's East Side when the East bypass was. To complete the Moana area, you're going to have to shut down the bypass. Disney has shown they're not worried about funneling guests along thinly decorated construction...

Journey of Water featuring Moana coming to Epcot

The timeline shown at D23 showed Journey of Water opening in 2023, separately from the World Celebration opening. Clearly, that presentation was full of inartful sentences. I have a hard time believing they will keep everything off-limits until late 23. Communicore Hall won't be done till then...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

IMO there are two good options for an eastern terminus that wouldn't require destroying the river. Option 1: Build a path along the eastern river's edge, coupled with a truncated northern island. The path would be similar to the Africa to Pandora path, part on land & part boardwalk. It would...

    News 2018 ticket price increases

Has a third US resort been seriously explored inside WDC at all in the last 20 years? It sure seems like there's enough demand between the coasts to start another resort complex in the middle of the country without destroying attendance at DL or WDW.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

It's a shame they're not repurposing the front half of Pixar Place as a large Meet & Greet space. Seems like it'd lend itself to nicely corralling off crowds and hosting new and non-TS pixar characters, all for minimal outlay.

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

By 2030, it'll have been 23 years since WOL closed, 26 years since it went seasonal/quasi-closed. That's ridiculous.

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

The cars in that phooto look like they're blue, like the vehicles were in the last 10 yrs or so. Weren't they originally more of a pink? I'd suspect that's from either reconstruction of a vehicle or them being deconstructed post closure somewhere.

Na'vi River Journey reviews, comments and questions

You want the Birnbaum's description or what? I was comparing it to ERDT, which also had screens but in a variety of scenery: ancient Mexico, beaches, etc. River Journey is screens in forest and more forest. It's not bad, but the scenery is too static for a slow moving ride with no plot.

Na'vi River Journey reviews, comments and questions

IMO the most appropriate comparison for the river journey, quality wise, is El Rio Del Tempo. Screen heavy diversion attractions with weak-at-best plot lines. But at least ERDT spiced up the scenery, with River Journey its plants and more plants.

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

I know I'll be in the minority, but IMO that's a great use of that dead end corner & CC NE. It could solve a number of issues. Namely, you've got a replacement for the tired Electric Umbrella and a post show. Of course the gift shop and over-IP'd aesthetic isn't great, but I'll take the built...

Rumor Siemens is going to end their sponsorship with the parks - Spaceship Earth and IllumiNations

It still seems to me, that this has to do with something at a corporate level. Why would they put out a "thanks for the memories" ad? Why the abrupt shift from highly anticipated re-signing to definitely no return? If it was a negotiation falling out, say the demolition of SSE's post-show for...

Na'vi River Journey reviews, comments and questions

When I visited, they were putting 4 adults into each row, which was way too cramped. IMO, the dumb rider setup lowers the experience as well. Who wants to feel like a sardine for the whole ride? Any chance it could be retooled in the next couple of years? Seems like with a few more animated...

Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House

Sci-Fi Dine In is such an easy facade overhaul, it's surprising they didn't tie it into this project. Just paint the visible parts of the soundstage in pastels, remove any "soundstage" signage, add a few "coming attractions" posters, and you've got yourself a midcentury movie theater.

What do you think of the EPCOT Central Spine redesign?

This whole plan is bizarre, bluesky or not. Why the demo spree? Communicore was designed around flexibility? ADA and egress wise, the typical reason for demo, isn't really an issue here thanks to the 94/99 overhaul. I could see partial demo, or switching the original interior breezeways to just...

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I know it's low on the excitement index, but given Odyssey is still there in that rendering, is there a plan to refurbish it as a counter service restaurant? Seems like a natural replacement for Electric Umbrella. Sure would have some great views of those new fountains...

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

Do we have an approximate ride time for this thing? It's obviously going to be a fraction of UoE, but how small of one?

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

You could easily talk about smart grid technology and really how any system increases in power as it grows in scale. It's a reach, but it can still teach Joe Q. Public and his kids. I'm willing to give this a shot if they infuse the preshows with edutainment...They sort of did this with FoP...

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

It's crazy to me that there's no announced plan to repurpose the dinos for a diorama along MK's RR. That could easily soften the blow for some folks.
