News Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog - attraction discussion only

Then you do it. If it takes no skill, sounds like an easy way to make a bundle and, oh! The prestige. What person would turn that opportunity down?

Good grief. I never understand people making definitive statements about art or the skill required.

Disney Genie, Genie+ officially introduced along with confirmed details of how it will work

If Photopass is a benefit I‘m interested in, that’s $169 or $199. I don’t have an AP. If I go for 5 days and want this Genie business for two of us, that’s $130. If this plan had included PhotoPass, that would’ve saved at least $39 for a medium-length trip. But they don’t, so the point is moot...

Disney Genie, Genie+ officially introduced along with confirmed details of how it will work

What am I doing? I’m literally just figuring out if you need to buy PhotoPass if you do this. Good grief. Not everything is an agenda.

Disney Genie, Genie+ officially introduced along with confirmed details of how it will work

Nah. Walt squeezed every merchandising opportunity imaginable and Bob would be off in the salt mines, doing that.

So, I’m confused. Is PhotoPass included for WDW or just a DL perk? If it’s included in WDW - depending on the length of the trip - that could wind up being a savings, if I’ve calculated this right.

News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

I don’t know why people are blaming Lucas for anything. Lucas didn’t come up with, like, nuking the fridge. That was Spielberg’s idea. I’ve read the original story conference for Raiders. Almost everything that made Indiana Jones great came from Lucas.

News Disney World is Now Limiting Purchases for New Items

And that’s the thing - I don’t think they’ll ever exhaust the resellers. We’ve seen with the new video game consoles and video cards, regular people don’t have a shot at getting anything in short supply. A company shouldn’t have to make infinite amounts of a product just to try and outwit the...

    News Morocco Pavilion redevelopment

Certainly Joe Rohde was a prime driver on it, but there‘s no way that James Cameron - noted hyper-perfectionist - didn’t push for as much immersion and detail as he could get. And he was gonna get it whether Joe Rohde was there or not, because for whatever Western ideas we have about the success...

Rumor Hollywood insiders say there's growing tension at Disney as CEO Bob Chapek chafes at Bob Iger's 'long goodbye'

Josh ain’t Pressler. I’ll agree that he’s kind of a tabula rasa at this point, most accounts, he likes interacting with cast members, he likes the parks, and Pressler couldn’t have given less of a damn about either. Chapek is setting himself up to be Pressler much more than this dude, IMO.

Rumor Hollywood insiders say there's growing tension at Disney as CEO Bob Chapek chafes at Bob Iger's 'long goodbye'

All I know is if Marvel started to consistently suffer and Feige wanted him gone, Chapek would have to go. Feige is the lever. He’s respected with talent, the public, and he’s been a license to print money. And by all reports, he’s not happy.

Rumor Hollywood insiders say there's growing tension at Disney as CEO Bob Chapek chafes at Bob Iger's 'long goodbye'

Yeah, but that doesn’t work without a partnership in place. Walt was amazing but he desperately needed Roy to make it work. And while Eisner was no Walt, he still had Frank Wells to pay the bills and let him do the fun stuff. That’s the problem, right? Disney has worked best in the past when...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

This whole argument should be irrelevant in short order, at least for Pfizer. They submitted for full approval in early July and they’re expecting it to take 1-2 months. The only real barrier between EUA and a fully-approved vaccine was 6 months of follow-up safety data. In the normal order of...

True. And even if they played fair - you know, without the pesky slave labor - they’d have a 5-fold advantage in manpower for any task. (That’s why Apple and others stay there - it’s not that the workforce is cheap, as other countries are cheaper than China now. It’s that they can bring legions...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

True, but complicated. China actually shut down export of masks for most of last year - 3M and Honeywell could make masks there but China kept them for themselves. A bunch of American companies stepped in with domestically-made masks. But as demand fell with the vaccination effort, many of these...

Yes. Literally 60 percent of this country has a comorbidity that makes it harder to deal with COVID. So many people would rather write them off instead of wearing that mask.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Yeah, but understand what that means. 30 percent doesn’t mean that 7 out of 10 people will get infected. It means you have 30 percent better protection than someone not vaccinated. That’s *magnitudes* more protection. And when you get to the 40 to 60 percent number, that’s better protection than...
