    Recommended Primes for the Parks?

My most used lens on my last two trips was a 35/1.4 on my X-T1. Next up was my 10-24. Love the 35/1.4 on the parks.

If you could only take one lens with you to the parks that day, what would it be and why?

If it was one trip and just one day, I'd probably go with my XF 18-55 on my Fuji XT-2. If I was going multiple days, I'd spend an entire day with just the 35/1.4 and probably another with the 10-24. That said, I rarely use the 18-55 in the parks. It's usually either the 35/1.4 or 10-24...

    Photography Tips

You can get acceptable results with long shutter speeds on rides, just have to time it right and brace yourself. You can get decent DOF as well when distance to subject is great enough. This was a 35/1.4 wide open at 1/10s on my Fuji X-T1. It won't win any awards in the sharpness department...

    Sony introduces A7iii

Here's a HSS test shot (1/1600) that I took when I got it. Haven't went through the pics from our last trip yet, but it got a healthy workout. Great bang for the buck and can work as a master for the Godox system as well. TT350F HSS Test by smerrick, on Flickr

    Sony introduces A7iii

I love the new Godox stuff, took a TT350F with my X-T1 on our last trip. Also have a AD200, two of the TT600's and just picked up the XproF trigger. Was using the XT16 before but it's nice to have TTL and HSS with the AD200 now. Just found out about the SK300II and SK400II which are 300ws and...

News 'Disney After Hours' ticketed event

This sucks for regular park goers. So they basically close early at 9 and it'll start filling up again around 7. We'll be there tomorrow and not happy at all as we like to close out the parks and enjoy the smaller evening crowds. Bad move Disney, will take my money elsewhere our next vacation.

Forgoing the use of a camera and using smart phones

I'm not an iPhone user so not sure how capable they are, but I agree they're great for snapshots and have pretty much completely replaced anything less than a DSLR or mirrorless kit. I'll continue to bring my Fuji mirrorless kit with me on trips to the parks for the quality and creative options...

They both have their place, depends on what you're wanting to capture.

Winter storm "Grayson" just outside of Charleston, SC. Totaled out to just over 6" at our house. Very rare for us to get snow at all down here! Charleston Snow 2018 by smerrick, on Flickr

Is taking a camera worth the hassle?

Why bring your tablet and laptop? I'd leave those at home along with the gimmick phone lenses. If you delve deeper into digital photography, you'll be shooting raw and post processing which is better left until after your trip is over. If you're just wanting snapshots or to document things as...

I sequenced my Halloween lights to this spoof of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" :) Figured some of you may get a kick out of it. Whole show playlist is here if interested - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLY6l3Fd1SM8uUD5mdi81m2nEVPBFfUvHP.

Best way to sell old gear

Fred Miranda is a good place - http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/10, mostly higher end gear. Some of the camera specific forums are good places as well, particularly this one for Canon - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/.

    New camera advice

I went from a Canon 7D to a Fuji X-T1 a few years ago and absolutely love it. Size, weight, quality, is all spot on. Debated on picking up an X-T2, but I'm holding out until the used prices come down. I did however end up getting another used 7D and 300 F/4 last year to shoot JV soccer as the...
