Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Did you get the newer Shingrix vax? That one seems on par with Covid 19. “In adults 50 to 69 years old who got two doses, Shingrix was 97% effective in preventing shingles; among adults 70 years and older, Shingrix was 91% effective. In adults 50 to 69 years old who got two doses, Shingrix was...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Sturgis started today and goes until next weekend. Last year that event spread Covid across the country. I expect the same will happen this year. I’ve done the nasal swab test twice. It’s not pleasant but it’s not really that bad and it takes like 10 seconds.

What's going to happen with Annual Passes?

Did I say they didn’t get visitors from all over the world? Of course they do. However, 80% of visitors are from Southern California. Sorry if that fact is inconvenient for you.

What's going to happen with Annual Passes?

80% of Disneyland visitors live within 100 miles and 50% of visits to Disneyland are AP visits. Oh, and the estimate is that there are 1 million Disneyland AP holders. The WDW attendees are a completely different mix.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

“Public Health England said there was currently no evidence to indicate that the B.1.621 variant causes more severe disease or can evade vaccines, but is investigating it to better understand the impact mutations have on the coronavirus, reports the Washington Post. In the US the variant has...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

I think that once the FDA gives full authorization you will see more employer mandates for vaccination and the masking mandates will go away for the most part. Also, once children under 12 can be vaccinated that will be a huge help. So barring a vaccine busting mutation in the next few months I...

Disney executives have come up with the answer to rock bottom Cast Member morale

    1. CA’s minimum wage goes up to $15 next year, though many localities already have $15 or higher. 2. Here’s a story about a pizza chain that is somehow able to pay its employees $16/hr, stay in business, and not charge $50 for a pizza. Crazy...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I doubt Disney will do anything differently regarding restaurants and distancing and that sort of thing. I think the most they would do is masks on for everybody indoors. Regarding vaccine passports, CA has a very simple system which they don’t even call a vaccine passport. The state Dept of...

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

I await the update on this big move in 3-5 years. 😂 I mean, Bob C. just bought a fancy new McMansion in SoCal for $12.5M. He’s not going anywhere. As I said in an earlier comment I do think it makes sense that anything that is heavily related to WDW be close to WDW. That might help get some...

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

On the one hand, I think it makes sense to have WDW-focused jobs, like Imagineering that’s centered on WDW, near WDW. On the other…does anybody remember how having part of Feature Animation in Orlando worked out? My ex works at Feature Animation (software engineer) and Disney still had the...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Ok, Bob. Here in the US THIS is what is happening in SW Missouri: Source: https://www.npr.org/2021/07/13/1015581093/covid-cases-in-parts-of-missouri-and-arkansas-surge-to-levels-not-seen-since-win As I said, let’s see where we are in 3 weeks. Hospitalizations and deaths lag cases and cases...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I would just like to point out for those insisting that Delta is overblown that hospitalizations and deaths lag cases by weeks. And US cases are only just starting to go up. So you can’t say yet that Delta is “overblown” or that there won’t be many hospitalized or dying. Check back in 3 weeks...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Some of those in the under-40s are falling for anti-vaxxer garbage like the fertility “question”. And then there’s the news sensationalizing possible issues/side effects like the small number of young people might have gotten myocarditis due to the vaccine. People who have hesitation due to...

    Return to normality tracker

I don’t know where I saw it but it was around week ago that somebody posted that marshmallow roasting was back at BWI. Not sure if that’s the same as the campfire. They posted a picture of somebody roasting marshmallows.

News Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours coming for resort guests

The people staying at value or moderates who seriously look at the evening EMH and are like, “Yep! I’m moving over to deluxe!” are exactly the rubes Disney is looking for. 🤷‍♀️

News Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours coming for resort guests

It’s pretty sad if taking a previously existing perk for all onsite guests and just giving it to Deluxe guests as a repackaged “perk” for the 50th is the best they can do. 😂

News Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours coming for resort guests

I realize they’re desperate for anything they can call a “perk” for the 50th but come on. The 30 minutes early entry for resorts guests should be happening now. There are literally no perks right now for anybody staying on property.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Oh well. They can find another job. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve worked in a hospital. Flu shots are required. You don’t get to get out of it just because you don’t want it. There was a public health nurse whose job was to go around to each department in the hospital to vaccinate everybody. And she would come...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I agree. And considering it’s a chronic problem that’s been going on for years there’s not really an excuse at this point. If nothing else, the burden should be on ops to have the basics for the queues ready to go when a new ride opens - shade, for example. If you know the queue is going to be...
