News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

What boarding group number is typically the start of backup groups for Rise these days?

Or they could reduce their level of stock buybacks and dividends. Give less money to investors and more to labor. In 2019, they needed $40 million to bump up labor to a living wage. They spent $3.6 billion on stock buy-backs around that time. So they could've spent a little over 1% if my...

News Cítricos to reopen July 15 reimagined to the whimsy and elegance of Mary Poppins Returns

Anyway, I went to Citricos on Friday and it was very good. Everything was cooked properly. Nothing was bad ... only a couple of things were not above average in our collective opinions. That said, I'm pretty sure the staff knew we were there to review the food because we ordered almost...

Cast Member Pay & Labor Laws

True - we don't know what he spends on online poker. Does the Sentinel article say he's getting 40 hours per week? I didn't see it. I don't think the article mentioned any ongoing healthcare costs, insurance, or debts he had, either. Regardless of whether he makes $27K, the living wage...

Cast Member Pay & Labor Laws

Here's the math behind the discussion: Background: Text in gray is an email from a listener named Sue. It’s a response to a show we did off an Orlando Sentinel article about Mike Beaver, Tomorrowland CM who lives in a motel and commutes 45-minutes each way to his job in Tomorrowland. Mike makes...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

You have a point. If you could get a FP for FOP, your wait was probably 15-25% of the posted wait. Given the rules around FP in some parks, and the limited availability, it's not obvious to me that most guests were able to avoid most lines. I'm sure they waited less in, say, 1 to 4 FP...

85% thumbs-up. Below average, but not close to the worst.

    Ohana Has Hit Rock Bottom

In general, I agree with what our readers have in the top 10 and bottom 10. It's my opinion that places like Morimoto Asia, Takumi-Tei, and Jaleo are better than their reviews indicate, because enough guests go in expecting something like they'd get at their local Chinese (right?) or Mexican...

    Ohana Has Hit Rock Bottom

As of a couple of years ago we were getting more restaurant surveys for WDW every year than Yelp and TripAdvisor had, combined, over their lifetimes. Something like 200K-250K per year I think. 'Ohana is currently sitting at 88% thumbs-up since re-opening (34 surveys received), which is almost...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I'd be really surprised if FOP was not attempting to run at full capacity. We've got these actual wait times so far today at FOP: Actual 70 at 7:41 AM (MDE doesn't display posted waits before official park opening) Actual 77 at 7:46 AM Actual 86 at 7:54 AM Actual 101 at 7:58 AM Actual 158 /...

VIP Tours to include RotR without a BG as of July 11th

Lucky guess. :) My understanding - and I could be completely wrong here - is that there was guest feedback on (1) paying for a VIP tour and having the ride not available; and (2) paying more than a VIP tour for their hotel rooms and tickets while not even getting a boarding group. Those are, as...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I mean, that's the big concern, right? They control both the posted wait time and the supply of ride capacity. I can imagine that the legal disclaimer around these paid FastPasses is going to be astounding. Like "You agree that even though we say the standby wait is 60 minutes, and we're...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I'm convinced Disney will have to implement dynamic pricing during the day for FastPass. They're looking to optimize revenue. The most practical way to do that is by adjusting the price during the day. If they set the cost of a FP too low, you start a death spiral for the standby line. You...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

It's true - people are starting to forget what the wait times were pre-COVID. We're hesitant to re-do the scale until we know what Disney's doing with FastPass/Genie/Access+/Lightning/Etc., and how that's going to affect standby waits. We still think the wait in line is the best metric to use.
