I saw some concern recently that the fda is considering not approving emergency authorization for kids when those vaccines are ready. I hope that will turn out to be inaccurate, as I absolutely want DD to get the vaccine as soon as one is available to her.

    Anyone dislike the volggers content?

This was a really hard year with DD, and once we discovered people live-streaming from the parks, we started doing a costume Friday. She’d wear one of her costumes to virtual school, and after school we’d cuddle up, watch some ridethroughs of her favorite rides (usually mad tea party - videos...

Given the pressure anti-masking people have been putting on schools here for months already, I really have no hope for such measures, even at the elementary level.

Really sad that this post has a laughing reaction to it. My child is one of 300 in the world with her disorder. When your child is that rare already, the fact that it is “rare” for children to have significant complications is not comforting.

Just to be clear, my virtual comment was primarily in response to the wondering here: Given that our governor has stated the state of emergency will expire June 30th, I do not expect any social distancing or masking in schools this fall.

I am fully vaccinated and will continue to mask and social distance as I can until my child is able to have the same protection I have.

I’ll take masks and social distancing for a little bit longer (til under 12 can be vaccinated) if it means we can ixnay on the virtual schooling. Never again. Seriously cannot do that again.

I’m not commenting on whether anyone should - that’s a decision for each individual family to make. But after 15 months of families having serious levels of stress dealing with virtual schooling, with little to no breaks, and the mental health issues that have arisen for so many, I expect the...

Any high risk child under the age of 12. There are many, for a variety of reasons. Personally, my child has no volitional cough ability at all, so normal colds have often resulted in her having respiratory symptoms for more than a month, long past any contagious period, and typically requiring...

I am well aware there is a lot of wiggle room between the two. We rented a house and took our daughter to the beach in May for a week. being may, it was rather empty. We had a wonderful time.

I believe you misunderstood the context of that post. my comment about our personal situation was specifically responding to Chi84 talking about the CDC removing masking recommendations across the country, not about going to WDW. I already live in a state that has removed all masking and...

Um, the post you’re quoting isn’t talking about myself. We will be waiting til she is vaccinated, thanks much for the concern.. Of course it’s parent decision to go or not. Parent-splaining not necessary. 🤷‍♀️ I was speaking to this bolded part of Chi84’s post that said “mask-wearing is not...

I’ve also seen adults blame students with disabilities for their neurotypical children not being allowed to go back into school (when students with significant disabilities were allowed back in small cohorts before the general population). As recently as April 2021. People really can suck.

I’ll be honest, I think society as a whole at this point is fine with the comparatively small high risk population being forced into further isolation, so I don’t hold out much hope from the CDC. I’ve had other adults basically tell me my kid’s mental health doesn’t matter as much as theirs...

Yes, but as has been understood, masks more protect others from you than they protect you from others (save n95 masks). When both parties are masked, then both are protected. Those with vaccines can still catch and spread COVID, though at lesser amounts. Until the younger age levels have the...

For those that are vaccinated, sure. But a huge portion of WDW’s target audience - ie kids - don’t have access to that yet. And there are concerns about rising hospitalization rates for kids...
