Bus driver can’t take guests to closed parks?

Fair enough. Nice to see the driver was just following policy (though plenty haven’t in the past!). Doesn’t stop me from thinking it’s a stupid policy though :)

Bus driver can’t take guests to closed parks?

So we left our car at Animal Kingdom, and got the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge for a dining reservation. After our meal (at around 8:40 pm, 40 mins after park closure), we approached a bus bound for Animal Kingdom. The driver said that he wasn’t allowed to take guests back. The bus was...

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

Any rumours about revering Hyperspace Mountain back to a non-Star Wars version? It’s seeming more and more like a permanent change :(

MAGICal DLP News, Rumours & Thoughts

Is it still expected to be the case that Hyperspace Mountain will revert to Space Mountain at the end of SOTF 2019, I.e. as of 17 March 2019? I really hope so. I am truly fed up of HSM, both in DLP and in HKDL! And I gather it’s now permanent in the latter :(

Hi. Just wondered if you were planning on making a return any time soon. Oddly enough it's not your news about the future I miss (although those were a great bonus, I am simply not invested enough in Disney these days to care about what is around the corner...) as much as your wit and...

Why are you allowed to keep your bag between the bag check and the metal detector?

Unlike at DLP, Universal and every airport in the world, WDW returns your bag to you in the window after you have had your bag searched but before you go through the metal detector. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this ridiculous security risk is ignored by WDW?

Were the lines really shorter back in the day or do we imagine this?

You have it pretty much spot on, actually - and they’d all be waiting in front of you physically. So in certain circumstances, the physical line would be greater than 30m if people with fresh park media kept entering and scanning in. This would only happen in the extreme cases though - new...

    Epcot $1 entrance lockers... gone!

I’m sure that’ll be the reason given for their removal. But if explosive-based crime is what is on someone’s mind, I’d suggest there might be a few more successful locations than a contained metal locker in a secluded baggage storage area near the distant buses that few people knew about...

Were the lines really shorter back in the day or do we imagine this?

My (crazy) idea is that when a line exceeds 30 mins, new people can only join the (30-minute) line by scanning in with their park media. They are then unable to join the next 30-minute line until an appropriate amount of time (I.e. what the queue would have been had all the people who scanned in...

Were the lines really shorter back in the day or do we imagine this?

As an alternative system, I would eliminate the current FP+ system entirely and do the following: 1 - Determine the acceptable wait time for a ride. The orthodoxy here is about 30 minutes, so let’s use that. 2 - As soon as the wait time for a ride exceeds 30 minutes, the standby line should...

    Epcot $1 entrance lockers... gone!

Very true. But from my point of view, as someone who only needed access once as a place to dump my bag after arriving from the airport, it’s the same service. And the “in-park” $15 lockers are actually less convenient as I have to bring a fairly large bag through park security, to the...

    Epcot $1 entrance lockers... gone!

To my shock and dismay, the $1 lockers at Epcot’s main entrance (pre-security, near the bus areas) are now gone! This must have been one of the last remaining amazing values at WDW. I was left renting a $15(!) locker inside the park for the same service. There are still a few of the good value...

    Spaceship Earth - Silent Descent

A little discovery of mine. If you answer the first question (health, work, etc) at the last possible minute - that is, between the timer showing 1 and 0 - you’ll hit a bug when it tries to generate your future. This bug means you don’t get the “choose your own future” segment with irritating...

    TTC-Epcot Monorail double bag check

I spent a bit of time wandering around thinking about it. Switching the ramps intuitively makes sense, but would result in “insecure” people arriving inside the TTC secure area. As I see it, the options are: 1) Use the same ramp for entry and exit, or send able-bodied people down the emergency...

    TTC-Epcot Monorail double bag check

Hey all, I can’t seem to find any recent (post-May) discussion on this topic. Does anyone know if there are plans to bring the Monorail exit inside the secure area of Epcot, to avoid having to go through a bag check twice? I assumed this would happen fairly quickly after the changes were...

DAS: being in two queues at once

First off, I don't intend this topic to be controversial, although I am certain it will be. Apologies in advance. As we know, overuse of the GAC program led to the changes that introduced DAS. This brought with it the notion that users have to wait, just not in the harmful environment (i.e...

Pet Peeve: Mis-using the term "ride"

This is a huge pet peeve of mine, but I would take it a step further - I think the word 'ride' shouldn't be used at all in the context of any Disney attraction. A ride implies a thrill or motion based experience where the movement is the only (or primary) part of the experience - that only...

    50 MAGICal Enhancements for the 50th ...

Fair observation, and certainly a reason I don't ride it as much as I would otherwise. But..... it's not rougher than Matterhorn (same ride system), or Space Mountain DLP for that matter. :)

    50 MAGICal Enhancements for the 50th ...

Out of interest, what would you say is the biggest problem with it? If I had to criticise, I'd complain about the queue line (signs of cheap "over painting"), and perhaps the ride quality which has deteriorated over the past few years. But that aside, it seems to me it's one of the most...

A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

Concerned by the further extension to F&W operating dates next year announced today. I like the F&W festival and make a point of visiting for it. (I also enjoy restaurant fairs all over the world, and the food quality (though not the absolute pricing) trounces Epcot F&W all over). But it comes...
