Bob Iger Stepping Down, Bob Chapek New CEO

so this thread is as apocalyptic as I expected. sounds like this was a calculated move to avoid the ‘bake off’ or COO chaos that happened with the other Disney succession plans. also makes the post-GE Iger against Chapek Insider info look extra silly and planted by anti-Iger factions.

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

It is...but I suspect that Disney is going to try and keep the assets both in Brazil and MX and come up with another way of appeasing both regulators.

I hear the Rise of the Resistance opening ceremony is going to be pretty interesting.

Must maintain the narrative. Disregard the data. Earnings this quarter were objectively good. It is silly to think of it otherwise. They weren’t perfect or likely as good as they hoped.

Disney’s Fiscal Full Year and Q4 2019 Earnings Webcast

Also they publish they available room nights in their earnings. Which eliminates this theory entirely. But it works as a talking point for folks who don’t actually do their homework.

A Tale of Booze in Batuu

Apparently you can ask to sit down before you are placed inside. I’ve never seen more angry people than at Oga’s. I can’t imagine it is getting good survey responses.

A Tale of Booze in Batuu

I agree with much of what you said. But Smuggler's Run was a disappointment on our first ride, just two of us. Then we had a party of 4 and it was a lot of fun yelling at each other to get the cargo and helping each other out. Rode it for a total of 3x last week and going with a group of 3-6...

Disney’s Fiscal Full Year and Q4 2019 Earnings Webcast

Doesn't Hotstar have over 100M users? That would be interesting for Disney to come in and pretty much say that they are the true streaming giant across their 4 streaming brands (D+, ESPN+, Hulu and Hotstar). I doubt they would do that, but it would be interesting. Netflix set the tone for...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

That is quite possibly the best anyone has articulated the difference between many of these lifestylers/vloggers.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

So I’m surprised no one called out Mickey Views Brayden for declaring in his infinite wisdom that Skyliner wouldn’t reopen without emergency AC added to every cabin? The Disney blogger insanity about this issue has been....insightful.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

This is the first time I’ve noticed the locals stay quite about something. Maybe they fear reprisals. They certainly tweeted tons on the opening.

    News Catherine Powell's position eliminated

This public execution allows them to treat the RoTR opening as a second chance. Betcha we see a slew of changes by the time RoTR opens as part of a relaunch. I’m assuming the menu changes @wdwpro mentioned as well the much desired increase in streetmosphere, changes in background music and some...

    News Catherine Powell's position eliminated

I could be confusing the two. I thought both were maligned, mostly because Powell didn’t have Parks experience before the DLP assignment. But unless there was a nick name, I can’t find any posts I was thinking of. So I stand corrected.

    News Catherine Powell's position eliminated

Not too long ago, folks were saying that Powell was the biggest problem with P&R(I think mostly Spirit). So weird that folks are suddenly in her corner.

    News Catherine Powell's position eliminated

Technically he should be the primary one to have something to do with it. Not a conspiracy, he is her boss.

    News Catherine Powell's position eliminated

Very disturbing how you are positioning this!

A Tale of Booze in Batuu

I don't know what it is like on the ground at DHS, but it is impossible to get an Oga's reservation right now well into October. So there is demand, and people have no problem paying crazy prices for liquor at WDW, the menu is just weak. I'm surprised they aren't making adjustments before...

    Entertainment cuts

I’m beginning to think everyone here is a goldfish. Every year Disney has a small round of layoffs in Sept, every year (or nearly every year) Disney announces entertainment cuts in September (with new ones announced for Spring launches before Christmas) and every time @Magenta Panther mentions...

    Entertainment cuts

The last time they announced a bunch of entertainment cuts, they launched nearly 1 for 1 replacements within a month or two., all of which were clearly in the works for a long time.

    Layoffs taking place September 2019

My old company did the same thing every year, they essentially called it 'layoffs' and gave severance, but in reality it was used to clean up workers who were performing below expectations. The public layoffs were more about presenting 'fiscal responsibility' to Wall Street and an excuse to not...
